Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Moonee Valley 25th August
We return to Moonee Valley with a great day of racing with plenty of chances in each event.
Strong program at Moonee Valley that usually favours the horses that have run well on this track in the past. Leading trainers will look to dominate this open meeting and our top selection looks a serious horse and one to keep an eye on in the future.
Moonee Valley is racing on a Good 4 with the Rail Out 4m Entire Circuit.
Moonee Valley Race 1 - 12:25PM Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap (1200 Metres)
ICONOCLASM is resuming from a spell but showed promise last preparation to be very competitive in the opening event of the program at Moonee Valley. Drawn to get the run of the race and will be in this for a long way. Will settle near the speed and be hard to run down.
1st: No5 ICONOCLASM 2nd: No6 Tulip; 3rd: No1 Ashlor; 4th: No9 Heptagon
Moonee Valley Race 2 - 12:55PM Mypunter.com Handicap (1600 Metres)
THE PASSAGE is an ultra-consistent gelding that’s looking to make it successive victories after winning by half a length last start. Won with authority a fortnight ago when defeating Ocean’s Fourteen at Sandown and was only a length behind Mantastic at Caulfield prior. In good form and looks hard to beat.
1st: No13 THE PASSAGE 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No10 Data Point; 3rd No14 Benny Goes Berzerk; 4th: No7 Red Choux’s
Moonee Valley Race 3 - 1:35PM MSC Signs Plate (1200 Metres)
Unbeaten Godolphin filly MULTAJA (BEST BET) made it two victories from as many starts when defeating Pippie by 2 lengths on this track at her previous start and will be looking to make it three from three to kickstart her racing career. Settled near the rear before coming home hard to win well last start and has drawn to get a nice run behind the speed. Will strip fitter second-up, sticking with her.
1st: No5 MULTAJA 2nd: No2 Kinky Boom; 3rd: No7 Cristal Eyes; 4th: No8 Metronome
Moonee Valley Race 4 - 2:10PM Woodside Park Stud Handicap (2500 Metres)
PIONEERTOWN is racing in hot form of late and will be looking to rack-up the hat-trick of victories here today. Led and showed good fight to get off the canvas and win on this track last start defeating Tiffany’s Lass. Won by 2 lengths prior at Sandown defeating Streetcar to Stars. Winning form is good form. Key player.
1st: No3 PIONEERTOWN 2nd: No1 Kellstorm; 3rd: No5 Bling Dynasty; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No4 Valac
Moonee Valley Race 5 - 2:45PM Dr Sheahan Plate (1200 Metres)
HOT DIPPED is resuming from a long layoff but showed promise last preparation to be a leading contender first-up in a race with plenty of chances. Has not raced in over a year but going on her effort when narrowly beaten behind Moonlites at Caulfield last start, she will be in this for a long way. Tasmanian with plenty of speed. Win wont shock.
1st: No7 HOT DIPPED 2nd: No5 Run Gypsy Run; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No10 Istria; 4th: No3 Moonlover
Moonee Valley Race 6 - 3:25PM 1PRINT Handicap (2040 Metres)
Hard to go past in form gelding *SCRATCHED* MORTON’S FORK (NEXT BEST BET) that’s coming off a win on this track and looks perfectly placed to make it successive victories here today. Looked good when storming late to defeat Mr Clarify by half a length last start and was only beaten by a short margin by Sixties Groove at Flemington two starts back. Looks well-placed to run a big race here today.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No3 MORTON’S FORK 2nd: No5 Trap for Fools; 3rd: No2 Pacodali; 4th: No8 Grand Dreamer
Moonee Valley Race 7 - 4:05PM McMahon's Dairy McKenzie Stakes (1200 Metres)
Last start debutant winner BRUTAL will be looking to make it successive victories after giving his rivals a galloping lesson at Caulfield. Led and proved way too good for his opponents when running away to an ultra-impressive 5-length victory. Looks to have plenty of upside and looks well-placed to make it successive victories. The one to beat.
1st: No5 BRUTAL 2nd: No4 Ocean Knight; 3rd: No9 Tavisan; 4th: No3 Mig Energy
Moonee Valley Race 8 - 4:45PM SAJ Fruit Supply Carlyon Stakes (1000 Metres)
The ultra-consistent SUPER TOO is resuming from a break but going on her dominant 10-length trial victory at Warwick Farm, she will be primed to fire first-up here today. Beaten by Everest winner Redzel back in March in the Group 2 Challenge stakes at Randwick. Drawn a tad wide but has the class to overcame that slight obstacle. Big show expected.
1st: No11 SUPER TOO 2nd: No8 Mr Sneaky; 3rd: No9 Bandipur; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No2 Dothraki
Moonee Valley Race 9 - 5:20PM Harrolds Handicap (1519 Metres)
Mick Price-trained mare HIYAAM is resuming from a 19-week spell but has a great record when racing first-up and is sure to be very competitive in the final event of the program here today. Does appreciate a longer distance but will be the one flashing at them late, as she possesses a good turn of foot. Wide draw is a slight concern but a win won’t shock.
1st: No5 HIYAAM 2nd: No4 Moss ‘n’ Dale; 3rd: No9 Theanswermyfriend; 4th: No10 Husson Eagle
