Wednesday Racing Previews & Tips - Sandown 29th August
Strong meeting with a couple big fields at Sandown today. Expect the leading trainers to dominate this program.
Darren Weir and the Godolphin stable have a few serious chances that look well placed and hard to beat. Our top selection is unbeaten and looks ready to win again.
Sandown is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 10m Entire Circuit.
Sandown Race 1 - 12:30PM Vale Martin Riley Plate (1300 METRES)
SMILING CITY chased hard on debut to just miss the placings but looks well placed in the opening event of the program here today. Covered a lot of territory on debut when beaten by 1.1 lengths behind the promising Approach Discreet, which won again at Morphettville on Saturday by eight lengths! That form will hold up. Can win.

Sandown Race 2 - 1:00PM Ladbrokes Back Yourself Hcp (1000 METRES)
Resuming from a 32-week spell and having his first start for new trainer Darren Weir, AL DORAMA will be looking to bounce straight into the winner’s circle here today. Showed promise last preparation which included a strong half a length victory at Flemington defeating Nassayim back in January. Drawn well and will be ready to fire. Key player.

Sandown Race 3 - 1:35PM Ladbrokes Info Hub Hcp (1500 METRES)
Sticking with the lightly raced and consistent AKHURST to bounce back into the winner’s circle after narrowly missing at Sale last start. Stormed home to be beaten in a blanket finish behind Vainglorious and Dry Biscuit and will be out to atone for that defeat here today. Will strip fitter and watch for him flashing at them late. Serious player.

Sandown Race 4 - 2:10PM Ladbrokes Multiverse Handicap (1600 METRES)
SHOKO (BEST BET) is unbeaten and will be looking to make it three from three to kickstart her racing career. Looked impressive when defeating Miss Pandanus by a length on this track last start to go with her dominant 2.2 length victory debut at Wangaratta. Looks well placed. Tough to beat.

Sandown Race 5 - 2:45PM Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1000 METRES)
Consistent mare WEEKEND ESCAPE (NEXT BEST BET) has finished runner-up at her past two starts and is due for a change of luck here today. Chased hard but the winner kicked when it mattered to defeat the mare by just over a length on this track last start. Will strip fitter and prove to be very competitive once again. Winning hope.
1st: No8 WEEKEND ESCAPE 2nd: No7 Tuskar Brook; 3rd: No6 Bella Vino, 4th: No3 Keep Courting
Sandown Race 6 - 3:20PM Polytrack Handicap (1000 METRES)
Lightly raced Godolphin galloper ISAURIAN will be better suited in this grade and looks ready to bounce back into the winner’s circle here today. Beaten by 2.2 lengths behind I’ll Have A Bit in the Group 2 Euclase Stakes at Morphettville back in May and will be very competitive back in this grade after a seven-week layoff. Has the form. The one to beat.
1st: No3 ISAURIAN 2nd: No7 Holy Blade; 3rd: No2 Right Or Wrong; 4th: No9 Meridian Star
Sandown Race 7 - 3:55PM Clanbrooke Handicap (2400 METRES)
STEEL PRINCE just missed on this track last start and looks well placed to atone for that narrow defeat here today. Found Mirimar to good on the day when beaten by a length and will strip fitter and be hard to hold out over the 2400 metres. Will give them a start but has a good turn of foot so watch for him storming home late. Rates well.
1st: No4 STEEL PRINCE 2nd: No1 Mirimar; 3rd: No7 San Remo 4th: *SCRATCHED* No6 Flaaj
Sandown Race 8 - 4:30PM MRC Young Members Hcp (1300 METRES)
SERGEANT looks well placed after being beaten by 4 lengths at Flemington last start behind Crockett. Will strip fitter second-up and looks a leading contender here today. Will settle near the rear and be saved for one crack at them in the straight. Sticking with him. He’s ready to win.

Hard to go past OCEAN’S FOURTEEN in the last race of the program at Sandown today. Beaten by half a length by The Passage on this track last start when fighting back strong after being headed half way down the straight. Is racing in good form and looks well placed to take out the final event. Winning hope.
