Looks a great program at Caulfield today with the first Group One of the season, the Memsie Stakes over 1400m. Our top pick comes out of today’s feature race and will look to go onto bigger things this spring. Rates highly and should go close to winning again.
Caulfield is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 6m entire circuit.
Ultra-consistent JAAMEH looks perfectly placed to take out the opening event of the program at Caulfield today. Looked impressive when defeating My Nordic Hero by 2.9 lengths at Flemington a fortnight back and will be ready to fire again. Has the form and will be the likely winner barring bad luck.

LADY OF FLANDERS will be looking to make it three wins on the trot after winning her past two starts since resuming from a spell. Open race with plenty of chances but sticking with the in-form ARTIES DREAMWINNER who is looking to make it back-to-back victories here today. Looked impressive when strolling to a dominant 3.3 length victory at Morphettville a fortnight back. Has a good record over the distance and can give this a mighty shake here today. Serious claims.
1st: NO11 ARTIES DREAMWINNER 2nd: No6 Istria; 3rd: No1 Samovare; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No4 Spanner Head
NIGHT’S WATCH is an ultra-consistent gelding and looks well placed to bounce back after being narrowly beaten when resuming from a spell last start. Chased hard to just fail to reel in eventual winner Theanswermyfriend at Flemington and can atone for that narrow defeat on a track he has tasted success over with his only attempt. Drawn to get the run of the race and will be flashing home late. Big danger.
1st: No9 NIGHT’S WATCH 2nd: No6 Radipole; 3rd: No8 Willi Willi 4th: No12 Muraaqeb
CALL ME HANDSOME is a serious chance here today. Stomped home to be beaten by 1.1 lengths behind Plein Ciel on this track last start and can atone for that defeat here today. Did defeat Rhythm To Spare by half a length at Mooney Valley two starts back. In hot form, hard to beat.
1st: No8 CALL ME HANDSOME 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No3 Homesman; 3rd: No9 Mr Garcia, 4th: No12 Miss Admiration
TONY NICCONI (NEXT BEST BET) looks highly talented and will be looking to rack up the hat-trick of victories here today. Has won his two starts to date in fine fashion which included a tough half a length victory on this track defeating Long Leaf. Drawn to get the run of the race and will be very competitive as he strives to keep his unbeaten tag in place. Serious galloper.
1st: No4 TONY NICCONI 2nd: No6 Seabrook; 3rd: No7 Bondi; 4th: No11 Native Soldier
Champion galloper VEGA MAGIC (BEST BET) looks well placed to take out today’s Memsie stakes over the 1400m. Thrashed his rivals when resuming at Caulfield last start and looks well placed and hard to beat once again. Is on course to the TAB Everest so will need to be winning today’s event to be a serious chance in the huge sprint race in October. The one to beat.
1st: No3 VEGA MAGIC 2nd: No1 Happy Clapper; 3rd: No8 Kementari; 4th: No10 Showtime
Open race with plenty of chance but happy to give BALL OF MUSCLE a chance first-up here today. Hasn’t raced since beaten by In Her Time back at Rosehill but has the benefit of a few trials leading into this and sure to be ready to fire. Has drawn a tad wide but has serious speed. Win won’t shock.
1st: No8 BALL OF MUSCLE 2nd: No2 Brave Smash; 3rd: No12 Kemono; 4th: No1 Santa Ana Lane
CATCHY is resuming from a break but looks well placed in the final event of the program at Caulfield today. Likes racing when fresh and excels over the track and distance. Looks a lively hope in a race with many chances. Drawn well and will be in this for a long way.
