Wednesday Racing Previews & Tips - Flemington 26th September
We hit Flemington for a rare midweek meeting and the eight races have thrown up plenty of chances which equates to plenty of value.
Large fields are the order of the day for the meeting that can produce a few long-shot winners. Our top selection will be giving away a start but has a big motor so watch for him storming home late.
Flemington is racing on a Good 4 with the rail Out 14m
Flemington Race 1 - 1:00PM Briseis Handicap (1800 Metres)
Ultra-consistent mare MOSCOW RED is racing in great form of late and will be hard to beat in the opening event at Flemington today. Finished less than a length behind Seductive Miss at Mooney Valley last start and shapes as a main player here. Drawn well, danger.
1st: No6 MOSCOW RED 2nd: No4 Addison; 3rd: No8 Our Libretto; 4th: No5 Coral Coast
Flemington Race 2 - 1:35PM Cup Week Handicap (1000 Metres)
FINAL CHOICE looked impressive when defeating La La Lola by 3.3 lengths at Pakenham back in August and looks well placed to make it successive victories here today. Will strip fitter second-up and will be the one they all need to catch. Has plenty of speed to burn and rates on top.
1st: No6 FINAL CHOICE 2nd: No8 Leveraged; 3rd No11 Just Remember This; 4th: No2 Grand Wish
Flemington Race 3 - 2:10PM Rose Of May Handicap (1420 Metres)
AMPHITRITE (BEST BET) is a lightly raced filly out of the astute Darren Weir stable that won well last start and will be out to repeat that performance here today. Proved too good for her rivals when defeating Just Remember This by 1.3 lengths at Sale. Will settle midfield or worse and be saved for one crack at them in the straight. The one to beat on last start victory.
1st: No12 AMPHITRITE 2nd: No10 Prism; 3rd: No13 Thousand Wishes; 4th: No3 Est Indiaman
Flemington Race 4 - 2:45PM Martini-Henry Handicap (1420 Metres)
VINLAND finished runner-up to Midnight Storm at Balaklava last start and will be out to atone that defeat here today. The Tony McEvoy runner was hammered in betting on that occasion but couldn’t reel in the winner after sitting midfield for the majority of the trip. Has won over the distance in the past and drawn to get the run of the race. Stick with him.
1st: No5 VINLAND 2nd: No1 Boss Coni; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No11 Woulda Thought So; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No8 King Kohei
Flemington Race 5 - 3:20PM Star Of The Realm Handicap (1100 Metres)
HUGE ACTION was beaten by a length when finishing third behind River Lee and Inaminute at Bendigo last start and looks well placed to bounce back into the winner’s circle here today. Go on his fourth placing two starts back on this track when finishing 1.6 lengths behind Bandipur. Hs the form, ready to win.
1st: No10 HUGE ACTION 2nd: No1 Portman ; 3rd: No6 Haunted 4th: No8 Like to Think So
Flemington Race 6 - 3:55PM Kennedy Oaks Trial (1800 Metres)
GREYSFUL GLAMOUR has been racing well since resuming from a break and is due for some luck here today. Finished less than two lengths behind Aramayo and Cloak in the Group 2 Spring Stakes at Newcastle last start. Having her first start in Victoria but rates highly in this grade. Win won’t shock.
1st: No5 GREYSFUL GLAMOUR 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No2 Angel; 3rd: No1 Fiery Vista; 4th: No6 Hikaya
Flemington Race 7 - 4:30PM AAMI Victoria Derby Trial (1800 Metres)
APPROACH DISCREET is lightly raced but has shown ability at his first four starts to date and will be very competitive here today. Beaten by 1.9 lengths behind Tavirun at Mooney Valley three weeks ago when a heavily supported favourite. Won by 8 lengths at Morphettville two starts back. The one to beat.
1st: No2 APPROACH DISCREET 2nd: No7 Merchant Of Venice; 3rd: No9 Savoie; 4th: No3 Fun Fact
Flemington Race 8 - 5:05PM Wallace Handicap (1630 Metres)
PRIMITIVO (NEXT BEST BET) looks well placed to take out the final event at Flemington today going on his last start victory. Looked in trouble before finding the split late to shoot through and defeat Coltrane by half a length last start at Newcastle. In good form. Big danger.
1st: No12 PRIMITIVO 2nd: No11 Benny Goes Berzerk; 3rd: No5 Gold Fields; 4th: No1 Strike Force
