Geelong and Beaudesert are where we find our selections today as we look to kickstart the new month on a high. Our best for the day can bounce back into the winner’s circle after aiming for the sky last time out. Will relish the class drop.
Geelong is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail out 9m entire circuit.
Beaudesert is racing on Soft 5 with the rail True.
After finishing second on debut as the favourite, NO DRAMA DARCI looks well placed to break through in the opening event of the program at Geelong. Chased hard but couldn’t reel in eventual winner Do The Hippy when going down by 1.2 lengths. He was heavily backed that day ($5-$3.80 fav) and will better for the experience. Where there’s smoke there is fire!
1st: No8 NO DRAMA DARCI 2nd: No3 Unicc Star; 3rd: No7 Hussonman; 4th: No2 Okie
MAIGRET is a lightly raced filly out of the Darren Weir stable that looks ready to win. Chased hard when finishing just out of the placings at Echuca last start when giving away a big start rounding the bend. Will be fit and ready to fire third-up and the booking of D Yendall is a major plus. Stick with her.
1st: No10 MAIGRET 2nd: No7 This Girls On Fire; 3rd: No1 Casula Lad; 4th: No5 Diva Peron
This looks like a perfect race for DOWNLOADS (BEST BET) to bounce back after aiming a tad too high last start at Flemington. Never a factor when well beaten by the smart filly Smart Melody last start but going on his victory at Sale two starts back, she is a serious chance here today. Raced in some handy events last preparation and looks better suited back in grade here today. Hard to go past.
1st: No8 DOWNLOADS 2nd: No7 Nine Clouds; 3rd: No2 Do the Hippy 4th: No5 Ruchla
DARK ELEMENT is resuming from a 26-week break but has drawn well and will be very competitive here today. Has had a trial leading into his return and has a good record over the distance which should see him be hard to beat. Lightly raced gelding that’s ready to make his presence felt here. Winning hope.
1st: No3 DARK ELEMENT 2nd: No1 Animal Instinct; 3rd: No2 Cavalli *SCRATCHED*; 4th: No6 Engraved*SCRATCHED*
STYLISH MISSILE (SCRATCHED) is racing in good form of late and looks ready to bounce back into the winner’s circle here today. Ran on strong when defeated by two lengths behind Ruary Mac at Swan Hill last start to go with his narrow defeat at Donald back in August. Hasn’t had much luck but has found the right race to be very competitive and looks a big danger. Look for her storming home late. Serious hope.
1st: No6 STYLISH MISSILE *SCRATCHED* 2nd: No3 Chopsticks; 3rd: No2 Let Loose; 4th: No1 Kartem Around Boy
