The 2018 Port Macquarie Cup takes centre stage today, a little over 24 hours before we get to see champion mare Winx return to Flemington. We have identified a few gallopers ready to be very competitive and prove hard to beat at Ipswich and Port Macquarie., Our top pick is due for a change of luck and today looks like it could be his day.

Port Macquarie is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail True.

Port Macquarie Race 1 - 12:55PM Watpac Construction CG&E Maiden Showcase Plate (1200 Metres)

Still a maiden but ready to break through, QUICK NICK (BEST BET) is the one to beat here today. Has finished runner-up at his past three starts and is due for a change of luck here today. Has drawn to get the run of the race and it looks like it could be Nick’s day today. Stick with him.

1st: No12 QUICK NICK 2nd: No1 Brother Magic; 3rd: No2 Chasin; 4th: No4 Magic Ray

Port Macquarie Race 4 - 2:50PM Oxyoptia Benchmark 66 Showcase Handicap (1100 Metres)

Happy to stay with last start winner *SCRATCHED* SHE’S CHOOSIE that will be out to make it successive victories here today. Proved too good for her rivals when defeating Capital City by 1.9 lengths at Grafton. Has the form and despite drawing wide looms as a serious threat to her rivals once again. Big danger.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No3 SHE’S CHOOSIE 2nd: No1 Shelley Beach Road; 3rd: No5 Penfold; 4th: No4 Akamin

Pick 6

Ipswich Race 4 - 3:12PM JR Stephens & Co Transport Specialists Class 4 Handicap (1350 Metres)

Sticking with CRAB BOY (NEXT BEST BET) to make it back-to-back victories after winning by a nose on this track a fortnight back. Chased hard and got the bob down when it mattered defeating Soft Top over the 1200m. Jumps up to the 1350m today and has won over it in the past. Ticks all the boxes, looks a major player and ready to win again.

1st: No3 CRAB BOY 2nd: No4 Fanx; 3rd: No5 Greywolf; 4th: No2 Show ‘Em

Port Macquarie Race 7 - 4:40PM 2018 Carlton Draught Port Macquarie Cup (2000 METRES)

Sticking with Chris Waller’s EXOTERIC that’s ready to run a big race in today’s feature. Finished 1.2 lengths behind Prioritise six days ago at Doomben, with the winner absolutely low flying of late. Waller must be full of confidence backing him up within the week. Will settle midfield or worse and be saved for one big crack at them in the straight. Watch for him storming home late. Key player.

1st: No3 EXOTERIC 2nd: No1 Goathland; 3rd: No6 Loving Home; 4th: No9 Lady Evelyn

Port Macquarie Race 8 - 5:20PM Settlers Inn Class 1 Showcase Handicap (1200 Metres)

POWER COMMAND is a mare out of the in-form Kris Lees stable that looks well placed to run a huge race in the final event. Made good ground up in the straight when just missing the placings at Scone a fortnight ago behind boom galloper, Burning Crown. Drawn to be closer today and will be getting the run of the race just behind the speed. Rates well.

1st: No1 POWER COMMAND 2nd: No4 Maui Princess; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No6 Big Reg; 4th: No8 Just Sizzling
