Wednesday Racing Previews & Tips - Ballarat 3rd October
We are banking on premier trainer Darren Weir and gun jockey Damian Lane to deliver the goods on our best bet of the day.
Open program with plenty of chances here at Ballarat but it does look like it could be a big day for the leading trainers that have some handy horses going around. Our top pick is very consistent and has excellent formlines leading into the race today.
Ballarat is racing on a Good 4 with the rail Out 7m 600m – WP, True remainder.
Ballarat Race 1 - 1:00PM Pipe Pro Directional Drilling Maiden Plate (1000 Metres)
Open race with plenty of chances to start the day but we are sticking with the first starter out of Danny O’Brien stable AMOR FATI to kickstart her racing career with a victory here today. Drawn to get the run of the race and the booking of C Williams is a major boost. Can win her debut.
1st: No9 AMOR FATI 2nd: No5 Ardeeo; 3rd No10 Madam St Clair; 4th: No2 Gem ‘n’ Us
Ballarat Race 2 - 1:35PM Evergreen Turf Maiden Plate (1400 Metres)
Sticking with OUR SUNNY GIRL to break through here today after placing at all three starts to date. Stormed home but failed to reel in eventual winner Sly Song when defeated by a length at Sale a fortnight back. Will strip fitter second-up and looks well placed here today. Big show expected.
1st: No12 OUR SUNNY GIRL 2nd: No8 Such A Drama Queen; 3rd: No5 Single Handed; 4th: No3 North Afrika
Ballarat Race 3 - 2:10PM Bartlett Blinds Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate (1600 Metres)
DESIGN ROUGE is out of the Ciaron Maher stable and will be out to atone for his narrow last start defeat here today. Chased hard but failed by a nose behind Starvigo at Geelong last start to go with an unlucky third two starts back at Sandown against Extra Brut, which has since won in town. Has the form and looks perfectly placed to break through. Serious chance.
1st: No3 DESIGN ROUGE 2nd: No2 Convict Sam; 3rd: No4 Fandral; 4th: No7 Opposite
Ballarat Race 4 - 2:45PM Craig’s Royal Hotel Class 1 Handicap (1600 Metres)
OCEAN CLASS is lightly raced and will be out to atone for his last start defeat at Bendigo. Settled on the pace and showed a kick only to be nabbed on the post by Ruomaza a fortnight ago. Has a good record over the distance and will be in this for a long way. Has the form and can bounce back here today. Worth following.
1st: No3 OCEAN CLASS 2nd: No1 Seberate 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No5 The Kroc 4th: No7 Just Artie
Ballarat Race 5 - 3:20PM Porter Plant BM64 Handicap (2300 Metres)
PENTHOUSE PLAYBOY (BEST BET) is an ultra-consistent gelding that finished in the top two at his past six starts since resuming from a spell. Looked the winner only to be nabbed by the stablemate Arohata at Geelong last start but on his victory at Bendigo two starts back, he will once again prove hard to beat. Has the form and ticks all the boxes.
1st: No5 PENTHOUSE PLAYBOY 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No2 Foraoise; 3rd: No6 San Remo; 4th: No7 Hifranc
Ballarat Race 6 - 3:55PM Hygain Winner’s Choice Fillies and Mares BM64 Handicap (1200 Metres)
Drawn to get the run of the race, ABSOLEMM (NEXT BEST BET) is a serious chance to make it consecutive victories to start her racing career here today. Looked good when defeating No Dreams No Hope by 1.5 lengths at Pakenham and will be even fitter for this. Goes up in grade but looks a lively chance in a very open event. Win won’t shock.
1st: No11 ABSOLEMM 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No7 Time For Tea; 3rd: No2 Black And Tan; 4th: No1 Mia Georgia
Ballarat Race 7 - 4:30PM Sportsbets Power Play BM64 Handicap (1400 Metres)
MY MOTHER SAYS is racing in great form of late and will be out to make it three victories on the trot here today. Has won his past two starts in easier grade but looks like he is ready to take the next step up and the good draw makes him a serious chance. Has a great chance to notch the hat-trick. Rates on top.
1st: No6 MY MOTHER SAYS 2nd: No2 Hulme; 3rd: No8 Hermanito; 4th: No3 Canny Move
Ballarat Race 8 - 5:05PM Hygain Winners Choice BM70 Handicap (1100 Metres)
PLUTOCRACY has finished third at his past two starts but is due for a change of luck and that could happen in the final event of the program at Ballarat. Has been finishing his races off well and go on his 1.5 length defeat behind Superhard at Geelong last start. The quinella pairing in that race then went on to do it again at Mornington last Saturday, albeit with the result reversed. Key player.
1st: No7 PLUTOCRACY 2nd: No8 Wazzeme; 3rd: No3 One Hundred Percent; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No6 Matty
