Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Flemington 6th October
Huge meeting at Flemington today as we see the return of the mighty mare Winx looking to make it 28 straight victories in today’s Group One.
A mammoth program at Flemington today with Winx taking centre stage in the Group One Turnbull Stakes. She is looking to keep her unbeaten streak intact and make it an astonishing 28 straight victories. Our top selection is a galloper that oozes class and looks perfectly placed to make his presence felt here today.
Flemington is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 9m Entire Circuit.
Flemington Race 1 - 12:30PM Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000 Metres)
A race with first starters looking to kick-start their racing careers. Leaning towards the Tony McEvoy-trained SUN CITY that trialled well leading into his debut here today. Always a tricky race to start the big day but happy to stick with the Zoustar colt to take it out.
1st: No6 SUN CITY 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No11 Mockery; 3rd: No4 Memphis Rock; 4th: No5 Mercury
Flemington Race 2 - 1:05PM Antler Luggage Stakes (1400 Metres)
WILD PLANET is a gelding on the rise and looks well placed for a big showing at Flemington today. Resumed with an impressive 2.5 length victory at Ballarat a fortnight back defeating All Star who never had a chance of catching the leader. Narrowly beaten on this track back in April. Shapes as a key player and will be in this for a long way. Big show expected.
1st: No3 WILD PLANET 2nd: No2 More Than Exceed; 3rd: No4 Rainer; 4th: No8 Big Night Out
Flemington Race 3 - 1:40PM Furphy Paris Lane Stakes (1400 Metres)
PLEIN CIEL was very disappointing last start in the Group Three Cameron Handicap at Newcastle but can bounce back over a distance he excels over here today. Go on his victory two starts back when defeating Yogi by a half-length at Caulfield. Drawn to get a soft run and expecting a better effort from the Darren Weir-trained galloper today. Big danger.
1st: No4 PLEIN CIEL 2nd: No6 Eckstein; 3rd: No1 Crack Me Up; 4th: No9 Holbien
Flemington Race 4 - 2:20PM UCI Stakes (1800 Metres)
SAVOIE is racing in great form and looks ready to make it a hat-trick of victories here today. Has won his past two starts by a combined margined of just under 10 lengths and going on his four-length romp on this track last start, when he did a power of work, he is the one to beat. Winning form is good form and this colt is flying. Hard to go past.
1st: No5 SAVOIE 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No3 Cloak; 3rd No1 Not a Single Cent; 4th: No6 Thunderdome
Flemington Race 5 - 3:00PM TAB Turnbull Stakes (2000 Metres)
All eyes will be on wonder mare WINX as she looks to make it 28 consecutive victories here today over a distance she has won seven from eight from. Won this race last year and looks on the way to another Cox Plate victory in the coming weeks. Just enjoy this wonder mare - the modern-day Phar Lap.
1st: No2 WINX 2nd: No1 Grunt; 3rd: No4 Kings Will Dream; 4th: No5 Jon Snow
Flemington Race 6 - 3:40PM Gilgai Stakes (1200 Metres)
Tough race with plenty of chances but sticking with the David Pfieffer mare I AM EXCITED to bounce back into the winner’s circle after a few unlucky efforts to date. Held up at a vital stage when finishing 1.5 lengths behind Winter Bride at Caulfield last start. Should have finished closer. Just needs some clear galloping room in the straight to be a major player today.
1st: No11 I AM EXCITED 2nd: No6 Burning Front; 3rd: No10 Eduardo; 4th: No3 Perast
Flemington Race 7 - 4:20PM The Bart Cummings (2500 Metres)
AVILIUS (BEST BET) is a serious galloper out of the Godolphin stable and looks the one they all need to beat going on his past three victories since coming to Australia. Stormed home to defeat Brimham Rocks by a length at Randwick last start in the Group Three Kingston Town Stakes. Looks a gelding with a staying future. Expect a big spring from this boy because he’s talented.
1st: No1 Avilius 2nd: No2 Our Venice Beach; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No7 Midterm; 4th: No10 Yogi
Flemington Race 8 - 5:00PM TAB Edward Manifold Stakes (1600 Metres)
Darren Weir-trained KRONE is racing in good form of late without winning but looks to have found a suitable race to bounce back here today. Chased hard when she finished two lengths behind Mystic Journey at Caulfield a fortnight ago. Will appreciate this long straight and has already had good specking across several corporates. Watch for her late.
1st: No2 KRONE 2nd: No5 Amphitrite; 3rd: No8 Ducale; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No6 Yulong Meteor
Flemington Race 9 - 5:40PM Blazer Stakes (1400 Metres)
BELLA MARTINI will be out to atone her narrow defeat on this track last start in the final event of the program. Chased hard but couldn’t reel in Osbourne Bulls when falling short on this track and distance two starts back, before leading and getting nabbed right on the line by I Am A Star, which has won since, in the Let’s Elope. Has the form to give this an almighty shake. Strongly fancied.
1st: No5 Bella Martini 2nd: No4 Bring Me Roses; 3rd: No1 Aloisia; 4th: No7 Payroll
