This Weekends 5 Best Bets
We've gone through our tips and have found you the five best bets for the weekend from horse racing, greyhounds, Premier League and A-League.
We've gone through all our tips to give you the five best bets you should be placing or using as multi-fillers this weekend.
Horse Racing – Caulfield Race 8 Caulfield Cup
The Tip: Kings Will Dream
Why: Maps to get a great run behind the leaders from 6 with only 53kg on his back. Last seen running 1.75L behind Winx in the G1 Turnbull over 2000m. That run was more meritorious than it seemed given how all the other on-pacers dropped off. He peaked 5th-up over 2400m last preparation when winning the Mornington Cup, same set-up here looks ideal for the flying D.K. Weir (especially at Caulfield).
Horse Racing – Randwick Race 8
The Tip: Maximus
Why: Maximus is hard to go past here as he is racing in great heart. Looked good when hitting the line hard to defeat Right Or Wrong on this track a fortnight back and can make it successive victories with the perfect gate draw. Ticks all the boxes and shapes as a serious player over the 1200m.
Greyhounds – Wentworth Park Race 7 Million Dollar Chase
The Tip: Poke The Bear
Why: Was sensational in winning his semi last week in a best of the night 29.66. Began brilliantly from seven to lead over the highly rated Benali, with the pair staging a two-dog war for most of the race before Poke The Bear won pulling away by a length-and-a-quarter. The squeeze box in the only concern but if he gets clear air he wins.
Premier League – Chelsea v Man Utd
The Tip: Hazard Anytime Goalscorer
Why: Until he starts letting us down, we’re going to keep backing Hazard to score until the cows come home, and this fixture is no different. United’s problems at centre-back have been very well documented – Mourinho playing centre-midfielders there, unsuccessfully, is particularly worrying – and considering only Fulham, Cardiff and Huddersfield have conceded more than United, Hazard will be licking his lips with glee.
A-League – Wellington Phoenix v Newcastle Jets
The Tip: Over 2.5 Goals
Why: An average of 3.33 goals per game has been scored in this fixture since the end of 2016 and with Wellington boasting the worst defence of the A-league last season (55 goals), the shot-stoppers could be in for a busy day. Being the first match of the season, neither defence is going to be fine-tuned so expect to see a few goals at the very least.
