There are a number of good cards to compliment the Flemington Oaks Day program in Melbourne. Hawkesbury and The ‘Bool are the two programs we have cast an eye over and there are some handy types ready to salute the judge. Our best bet is a natural frontrunner that will be looking for another all-the-way success.

Hawkesbury is racing on a Good 4 with the rail true.

Warrnambool is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail out 9m the entire circuit.

Hawkesbury Race 1 - 12:35PM Sambell Concreting Maiden Plate (1100 Metres)

Locally trained runner GIMME SHELTER is ready to break her maiden status. Produced an eye-catching run on debut at Newcastle on October 16, coming from last on straightening to finish a length behind the leader and winner, Shadow Bridge. The extra 200m here definitely helps.

1st: No9 GIMME SHELTER 2nd:  No4 Pauper; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No2 Paris In May; 4th: No10 Lagarde

Hawkesbury Race 2 - 1:15PM All State Shopfitting Prov & Ctry Maiden Handicap (1100 Metres)

Liked the way MONTANA THUNDER trialed at Wyong recently. Was having his first trial in nearly two years and jumped out of the barriers brilliantly, leading throughout over 845m to win by three lengths in one of the quicker times of the morning. Is a five-year-old on debut so there have obviously been issues, however, going on his trial win he is worth having a crack at.

1st: No1 MONTANA THUNDER 2nd:  No8 Polhampton; 3rd: No9 Celosia; 4th No10 Prototype

Warrnambool Race 1 - 1:50PM Toyota Prado-Luxury That Goes Anywhere 3YO Maiden Plate (1200 Metres)

This filly found the line well on debut at Stawell behind a handy customer and is one to follow in this race. Ended up last in the field of five rounding the home turn before finding the line powerfully over the final 100m in the race won by Mischa. Stretches out a further 100m here which suits and from barrier two should be closer to the speed this time around.

1st: No3 DON’T WAIT 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No5 Angola Miss; 3rd: No7 Star Of Moshe; 4th: No2 Darlamax

Hawkesbury Race 6 - 3:55PM Blake’s Marine Benchmark 64 Handicap (1100 Metres)

The Gary Neale-trained FRENCH BLUE (BEST BET) is our on top selection here. Comes into the race off an all-the-way win at Bathurst on October 26 when lumping 61kgs over this same distance. Jockey sticks and gets a 3kg claim for this to carry 58kgs. That win was first-up and he trialled enormous at Warwick Farm, leading and running second to Taniko who has since come out and won at Gosford. French Blue will be in front for a long, long way.

 1st: No2 FRENCH BLUE 2nd:  No1 Playard; 3rd: No7 Beware; 4th: No8 Don’t Doubt Her

Warrnambool Race 7 - 6:00PM Hilux – Awaken Your Unbreakable BM58 Handicap (1100 Metres)

Prepared to give FORBID ME NOT another chance. Was a beaten odds-on favourite last time out at Horsham, where she was wide for most of the race and couldn’t find her favoured role in front. From barrier 4, jockey Liam Riordan should take the mare straight to the top and hard to be catch over the sprint trip. Hard to beat.

1st: No1 FORBID ME NOT; 2nd:  No5 Fox On The Run; 3rd: No6 Reward The Maid; 4th: No3 Delightful Cat
