This Weekends 5 Best Bets
We've gone through our tips and have found you the five best bets for the weekend from horse racing, boxing, Premier League and A-League.
We've gone through all our tips to give you the five best bets you should be placing or using as multi-fillers this weekend.
Horse Racing – Flemington Race 7 VRC Sprint Classic
The Tip: Redzel
Why: Redzel is the best sprinter in the country and looks well placed to make it successive VRC Sprints after tasting success last year. Gave his rivals no chance when making it back-to-back Everests at Randwick a month ago. Has some serious speed and will be in front for a long way.
Premier League – Newcastle v Bournemouth
The Tip: Bournemouth
Why: Newcastle United may have secured their first Premier League win of the season last weekend, however they were absolutely battered by Watford, and we’ll never quite know how they emerged from the contest with all three points.
As a result of that match, Bournemouth to win is now much higher than it otherwise would have been (they’re still favourites, mind) and they themselves were mightily unlucky to lose to Manchester United at The Vitality.
The Cherries have won their last two away games against Watford and Fulham 4-0 and 3-0 respectively, so I have absolutely no hesitation in backing them to beat a poor Newcastle side.
Boxing – Oleksandr Usyk v Tony Bellew
The Tip: Oleksandr Usyk by Unanimous Decision
Why: While Bellew revels in upsetting the odds, as he has done in his last two fights against David Haye, he has done so against opposition who are far from the crème de la crème. Oleksandr Usyk is a totally different proposition than an over the hill David Haye or Ilunga Makabu.
Whilst carrying enough pop in his punches, Usyk isn’t a huge punching Cruiserweight and Tony Bellew has shown he can take a punch and has good defensive skills himself, therefore the fight going the distance looks a likely outcome. Usyk should win the majority of rounds with his fast straight shots and quick feet.
A-League – Melbourne Victory v Central Coast Mariners
The Tip: Melbourne Victory
Why: Melbourne Victory have been dominate in this fixture – having not lost in their past 15 clashes against the Mariners.
The Central Coast had managed draws in their opening two matches against Brisbane and Melbourne City, however, when presented with a harder challenge in FFA Cup winners Adelaide, they crumbled at home 3-nil last week.
Premier League – Man City v Man Utd
The Tip: Man City
Why: Though United have actually been in good form recently, their performances have not been as good as the results suggest. Their first half against Bournemouth was absolutely dreadful, a showing like that at The Etihad, and they’ll be obliterated. They can forget about scoring three times in one half, too.
The fact that United have still kept just one clean sheet would be ominous at the best of times; then you see City have 24 home league goals and Sergio Agüero and co. will face Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelöf – it could be a bloodbath.
