Ballarat Racing Previews & Tips - Saturday 24th November

Cup Day at Ballarat and we have identified some value runners on what looks an open program.

Thu, 22 Nov, 12:00 AM

Great program of racing for Ballarat Cup Day and there are 10 races which are pretty much value packed. Our best bet of the day is a very talented mare who we think has bigger fish to fry than what she meets today. And yes, she is out of the powerful Weir yard!

Ballarat is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail out 3m 600m-WP, true the remainder.

R8: 1,5,6,7

R9: 2,5,6,10

R10: 3,6

Ballarat Race 1 - 12:25PM Hertz Ballarat Mares BM78 (1200 Metres)

Great race to get things underway at Ballarat and we are tipping FREEHEARTED to get the money. Couldn’t get into the race last start in Group 2 company when last to Shumookh in the Tristarc Stakes. This is a big drop in class and Ethan Brown’s claim will help as she carries 59kgs. From two she gets the opportunity to race a little closer but her map suggests she will get back in the pack. Needs luck but worth a ticket.

1st: No2 FREEHEARTED 2nd: No7 Miss Wahoo; 3rd: No5 Smart Coupe; 4th: No4 Chatuchak

Ballarat Race 2 - 1:35PM Plate (1200 Metres)

I AM SOMEONE (NEXT BEST) was huge first-up and can go on with the job here. Was planted three and four-wide the trip at Moonee Valley last Friday night, however, still hit the line hard over the 955 metres. Carries 55.5kgs thanks to Fred Kersley’s 3kg claim and from gate three, should get a far better run in transit. Hard to hold out.

1st: No6 I AM SOMEONE 2nd: No7 Rox The Castle; 3rd No5 Via Balciano; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No1 Punt Club

Ballarat Race 3 - 1:30PM Champions Estate BM78 Handicap (2300 Metres)

*SCRATCHED* HE EKSCELS is knocking on the door for a win. Led and ran a mighty race in Group 3 company last time out, only to be beaten by the classy Tally over 1800m in finishing second. Goes up in the weights but drops in class. Has to lump 60kgs but he has been building up to this.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No1 HE EKSCELS 2nd: No3 Ocean Walzer; 3rd: No2 Bling Dynasty; 4th: No4 Romanesque

Ballarat Race 4 - 2:05PM Magic Millions 2YO Clockwise Classic (1000 Metres)

Early money suggests NOT A ROYAL DOUBT will be the one to beat. Most corporates have shortened the daughter of Not A Single Doubt in the betting and she is now into favouritism across the board. Goes into this with a trial win over subsequent Rosehill winner Kiamichi. Out of the high-flying Waterhouse/Bott yard so you have to respect it.

1st: No10 NOT A ROYAL DOUBT 2nd: No2 Ancestry; 3rd: No3 Hawker Hurricane; 4th: No5 Absolute Flirt

Ballarat Race 5 - 2:40PM Polytrack VOBIS Gold Eureka Stockade (1400 Metres)

ENBIHAAR has always been a talented type and she is due for a well-deserved win. The filly carried 58kgs last start and conceded 2.5kgs to the winner Ringerdingding, who is absolutely flying! Has to lump 57kgs here but going on her close up fourths at her past two runs, the other behind subsequent Coolmore winner Sunlight, she is the one to beat.

1st: No1 ENBIHAAR 2nd: No4 Winning Partner; 3rd: No2 Really Swish, 4th: No5 Bricktop

Ballarat Race 6 - 3:30PM Suez McKellar Mile (1600 Metres)

PURE SCOT is our on top tip in this one. Comes into this with a seventh to Nessuna Fiducia at Flemington on Oaks Day when well supported in the market. Wasn’t beaten all that far but looked a bit flat. Third-up here should see her peaking.

1st: No13 PURE SCOT 2nd: No6 Tan Tat Trusting; 3rd: No11 Ryan’s Fender; 4th: No2 Sunday Pray

Ballarat Race 7 - 4:00PM The Haymarket Ballarat BM84 Handicap (1400 Metres)

Very competitive affair with HAUNTED being our on top selection. The mare worked early from gate 11 last time out but settled into a beautiful spot fourth in the run, however, couldn’t let down sufficiently in the Heavy conditions to end up third to the very promising Fifty Stars. Stays at 1400m for this and the slightly better track conditions suit.

1st: No8 HAUNTED 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No9 Mr Money Bags; 3rd: No5 Superhard; 4th: No12 Fontein Lad

Ballarat Race 8 - 4:40PM Sportsbet Ballarat Cup (2200 Metres)

LIFE LESS ORDINARY is racing really well and can take out today’s feature event – the Listed Ballarat Cup. Made up good ground when second to Kaonic in the Cup Day Plate on November 6. Prior to that was back in the pack again but doing his best work late when less than two lengths off Best Of Days in the Group One Kennedy Mile. Has to carry 60kgs and maps to get back in the field, however, if Dwayne Dunn can get him a cart into the race he will be finishing over the top of them.

1st: No1 LIFE LESS ORDINARY 2nd: No7 Luvaluva; 3rd No6 Mask Of Time; 4th: No5 Kiwia

Ballarat Race 9 - 5:20PM Magic Millions 3&4YO Classic (1100 Metres)

Hard to go past PLATINUM ANGEL (BEST BET). Forget last start as she had atrial fibrillation. The form around her prior to that is super with a third to the flying Winter Bride when first-up. Last run in her previous prep Platinum Angel finished second in Group 2 company to The Monstar. Ideal distance for this Darren Weir mare. She is the one!

1st: No5 PLATINUM ANGEL 2nd: No2 Columbia; 3rd No10 Nomothaj; 4th: No6 As It Lies

Ballarat Race 10 - 5:55PM No Fuss Event Hire Tonks Plate (1200 Metres)

Having a shot at the stumps here with ROCK ‘N’ GOLD at big odds. Hasn’t had a great deal of luck at his past few starts. Didn’t get a crack at them when fourth to Choisborder in the China Bowl over 1300m at Ararat. Hit the line hard when clear. Isn’t badly weighted and can spring a surprise. Damien Thornton should push on from gate 10 and find a good spot in the run.

1st: No6 ROCK ‘N’ GOLD 2nd: No3 Stellar Collision; 3rd *SCRATCHED* No11 Suspense; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No2 Chamois Road
