TAB George Moore Stakes Day at Doomben and our expert has come up with five ‘good things’ on the program. Our best bet goes around in the feature event of the day and should’ve won last start. We are banking on him to repay the punters!
Doomben is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail true the entire course.
Is CAPITAL GAIN (NEXT BEST) ready to get back into the winner’s circle? Going off his last start performance, we definitely think so. It was hard not to catch his finishing effort when third to El Campeador a fortnight ago at this track when first-up. Will be fitter and the extra distance looks like it will suit.
1st: No2 CAPITAL GAIN 2nd: No6 Magnufighter; 3rd: No3 Estikhraaj; 4th: No4 Jaminzah
Punters have backed NATCH early and they could be on to something. The talented gelding has won five of 15 starts but placed on a further eight occasions. He is first-up coming into this and although he has no wins fresh, he has three placings. Drawn three and rounded out last prep with three wins and a second. Out of the powerful Tony Gollan yard. Follow.
1st: No4 NATCH 2nd: No11 Bluebrook; 3rd: No8 Looks Like Elvis; 4th: No1 Bergerac
COUNTRY COCKTAIL is worthy of another chance in this and punters will be getting a decent price this time around. The daughter of Snitzel was heavily tried on debut at this track on October 6, going out an odds-on favourite but she was wide for a good portion of the trip and the Heavy conditions may have also played a factor in her finishing fifth. Drawn three and with a firmer track this time around, she is worth the punt.
1st: No6 COUNTRY COCKTAIL 2nd: No1 Eleven Eleven; 3rd: No12 Valadyium; 4th: No2 Betaima
We are tipping OUTBACK BARBIE to make a winning return to racing. The talented filly hasn’t been seen at the races since finishing seventh to Miss Fabulass in the Group Two Tea Rose at Randwick on September 15. Has Group Two placings to her credit in just seven career starts. Drawn five, she maps to be midfield in the run and if Jimmy Byrne can find clear running, look for her to be flashing at them late. The class runner.
1st: No1 OUTBACK BARBIE 2nd: No12 Jami Lady; 3rd: No3 Malahide; 4th: No9 Whiskey Shooter
VICTOREM (BEST BET) looked like a good thing beaten last time out and we are tipping him to go one better here. Was blocked for clear running until well into the straight before Ben Looker finally got him clear, with the pair flashing home to just miss out against Most Important. Is now second-up and has won twice at this stage of his prep previously. Will be giving the leaders a start but he is capable of coming over the top of them with just 54kgs.
1st: No6 VICTOREM 2nd: No5 Tyzone; 3rd: No1 Most Important; 4th: No2 Care To Think
