This Weekends 5 Best Bets
We've gone through our tips and have found you the 5 best bets for the weekend from Horse Racing, UFC, A-League, Premier League and NFL.
A-League – Sydney FC vs Wellington Phoenix
The Tip: Sydney FC half-time/full-time
Why: The Sky Blues snapped a two-game winless streak with a much needed, but scrappy, 2-1 win over the Mariners last weekend. The fact they were able to grind out a victory must be pleasing for coach Steve Corica. Pleasing yes, but convincing no!
He will want them to lift the intensity for the visit of an improving Phoenix side at Jubilee Stadium. We are backing the Sky Blues to get off to a flyer and keep the momentum going in the second half.
Horse Racing – Ascot Race 6
Saturday 6:35pm (AEDT)
The Tip: Misty Metal
Why: A very talented mare and looks perfectly placed to strike here today. Led and proved too slick for her rivals when winning by 2.8 lengths on this track last start. Has the form and looks above average winning eight from 15 starts to date. Top pick.
UFC 231 – Holloway v Ortega
The Tip: Holloway by Decision or Technical Decision
Why: The champ, Max Holloway has been undefeated since 2014. His last defeat was to UFC sensation Conor McGregor in August 2013, where he lost via unanimous decision. Holloway has since been unstoppable and is now riding a 12-fight win streak.
Cementing his status as the king of the Featherweight division, Holloway defeated the long-standing 145-pound champion, Jose Aldo, not once, but twice – both via third round TKO.
Premier League – Chelsea v Man City
The Tip: Man City
Why: Chelsea is stuttering at the worst possible time. They head into this massive clash with Manchester City in a pretty shoddy way: two defeats, one draw and just one victory in their last four Premier League matches.
Recent history isn’t on Chelsea’s side either; City have beaten The Blues in two of the last three meetings at Stamford Bridge, and I’m expecting a similar outcome on Saturday.
City has kept away clean sheets against Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Cardiff and West Ham this season, and with Chelsea’s centre-forward problems becoming a significant issue for Maurizio Sarri, I fear they will be totally nullified.
The fact that City has gone to Anfield (as well as The Emirates and Wembley) and pretty much dominated, makes me confident they will win and continue their excellent run.
NFL – LA Rams @ Chicago Bears
The Tip: LA Rams
Why: Expecting the Rams to win and there’s a number of reasons why. Firstly, they’re getting Aqib Talib back to almost full fitness and he makes a huge difference in their secondary. You’ve got Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley who are just getting it done in their positions right now.
Finally, and most importantly, they have gone to tough places this season and got the job done. We saw them pull out wins at Seattle, and at Denver, two tough places.
