Warrnambool and Mackey are the meetings today’s selections come from and we expect them to be very competitive. Our top pick will be looking to atone her narrow defeat last time out and looks perfectly placed to take out today’s event. Will be running on strong and looks a serious threat to her rivals.

Warrnambool is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 2m 700m-400m, True remainder.

Mackay is racing on a Soft 7 with the rail True.

Warrnambool Race 2 - 4:00PM Star of the West Maiden Plate (1100 Metres)

ROYAL BOSS is resuming from a 19-week spell and will be hard to beat here today. Looked impressive when chasing hard on debut to finish 1.2 lengths behind Golden Halo at Donald back in July before hitting the paddock. Has drawn well and will be in this for a long way. Danger.

1st: No6 ROYAL BOSS 2nd: No4 Let’s Atom; 3rd: No1 Campo; 4th: No7 Tontein

Warrnambool Race 3 - 4:30PM Matthews Petroleum Class 1 Handicap (1200 Metres)

Lightly raced mare MADJA (BEST BET) finished half a length behind Pellina when heavily backed at Naracoorte a fortnight ago and will be out to atone that defeat in today’s winnable event over the 1200m. Look for this mare to strip fitter second-up and going on her debut victory at Stawell she will be in this for a long way. Can bounce back.

1st: No3 MADJA 2nd: No1 Linen King; 3rd: No5 Rohlon Drunk; 4th: No2 Outroar

Mackay Race 6 - 5:35PM (AEDT) McDonald Murphy Machinery Open Handicap (1560 Metres)

GREEN EMPIRE (NEXT BEST BET) has finished in the placings at his past six starts. This nine-year-old gelding is due for a change of luck and today could just be that day. Has won on the track and with a good record over the distance, plus the perfect gate (one), we expect this veteran to run another huge race and hopefully be first past the post this time around. Win won’t shock.

1st: No2 GREEN EMPIRE 2nd: No3 Tambo’s Heart; 3rd: No8 Gingersnap; 4th: No4 Old Smokey

Warrnambool Race 6 - 6:00PM Moyne Shire BM64 Handicap (1700 Metres)

Topweight PUURFECT TRICK has been racing in good form since resuming from a break and looks ready to peak third-up here today. Finished 1.2 lengths behind Kednelly on this track last start is placed to fire here today. Has drawn to get the run of the race from gate four where he maps to be no worse than midfield. Key player.

1st: No1 PUURFECT TRICK 2nd: No5 Column; 3rd: No7 King Tycoon; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No3 Blanco Cara

Warrnambool Race 7 - 6:30PM Port Fairy IGA Cup (1400 Metres)

Looks a perfect race for the ultra-consistent SUPERHARD to bounce back after finished just outside the placegetters at Ballarat last start. Go on his second at Flemington two starts back when finishing two lengths behind Cochada when running on strong after a tough three-wide effort. Has the form and will be ready to give this an almighty shake. Rates on top.

1st: No5 SUPERHARD 2nd: No3 Gold Fields 3rd: No2 Victory Downs; 4th: No6 Multitude
