Wednesday Warwick Farm Racing Previews & Tips - 16th January
Nice midweek meeting at Warwick Farm and we are fairly confident of success in a number of races today.
Warwick Farm is the venue for midweek metro racing in Sydney and with temperatures set to be in the mid to high 30s, horses and jockeys will have to earn their money the hard way. Our best bet of the day comes out of the Joe Pride stable on course and looks set to rack up the hat-trick of wins.
Warwick Farm is racing on a Good 4 with the rail +3 entire.
Warwick Farm Race 1 - 1:35PM Autumn Carnival On Sale Handicap (1400 Metres)
PROUD TRADITION finished fourth on debut, 2.2 lengths behind Bring The Magic on the Kensington track a fortnight back and will strip fitter second-up here today. Gets the blinkers on and shapes as one of the main dangers. Key player.
1st: No5 PROUD TRADITION 2nd: No3 King Of Seas; 3rd: No1 Tactical Formation; 4th: No2 Belladeel
Warwick Farm Race 2 - 2:15PM Events By ATC Handicap (1400 Metres)
SAVIGNE has drawn to get the run of the race and looks perfectly placed second-up here today. Finished strong when beaten by 2.6 lengths, just missing a placing at Newcastle last start. J Mac takes the ride and will give this filly every hope. The one to beat.
1st: No7 SAVIGNE 2nd: No8 In A While; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No11 Elusive Nature; 4th: No6 Princess Siri
Warwick Farm Race 3 - 2:50PM 2019 Membership Handicap (1400 Metres)
TYCOON STREET (NEXT BEST BET) has had a three week freshen up and looks poised to strike in today’s event over 14oom. Finished a length behind Toryjoy and that form has been franked with the winner racing well on the weekend. Did win by 4.3 lengths at Tuncurry two starts back. Top pick.
1st: No3 TYCOON STREET 2nd: No5 Luskintyre Lass; 3rd: No7 Sepoy Acheva; 4th: No8 Lucky Louie
Warwick Farm Race 4 - 3:25PM ANZ Bloodstock News Handicap (1200 Metres)
PROPHET’S THUMB is a filly on the rise and going on her first up 1.7 length victory at Gosford last start she will take a power of beating again. Will strip fitter second-up and expecting her to be launching at them late. Big danger.
1st: No8 PROPHET’S THUMB 2nd: No5 Marmaris; 3rd: No2 Crafty Tycoon; 4th: No4 Noviero
Warwick Farm Race 5 - 4:05PM Bowermans Office Furniture Handicap (1000 Metres)
ROYAL WITNESS (BEST BET) is a lightly raced gelding that’s well placed to make it back-to-back victories here today. The Joe Pride runner resumed from a 21-week layoff with a tough victory narrowly defeating November Man at Randwick a fortnight back. Has the form and looks the one they all need to beat.
1st: No4 ROYAL WITNESS 2nd: No1 And So It Goes; 3rd: No7 Sweet Surprise; 4th: No9 Torchbearer
Warwick Farm Race 6 - 4:45PM Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400 Metres)
PLAYARD has been racing in consistent form without winning of late but with a good gate draw he could surprise and take out today’s event over 1400m. Got clear galloping room late in the straight in Canterbury and was never tested when finishing 1.9 lengths behind Dawn Raid. Drawn two and gets Jean Van Overmeire’s 2kg claim. Win won’t’ shock.
1st: No9 PLAYARD 2nd: No5 Bull Market; 3rd: No3 Carluca; 4th: No4 My Song
Warwick Farm Race 7 - 5:20PM TAB Handicap (1600 Metres)
Tough race to close the program but we are sticking with the topweight GREAT JOB that’s drawn the one and gets some weight relief thanks to Jean Van Overmeire (2kg). Undefeated second-up winning both starts to date. Finished a narrow second to Fuchu first-up and will be better for the run.
1st: No1 GREAT JOB 2nd: No5 Another Snappy; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No6 Nothing Too Hard; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No8 Weekend Affair
