Thursday Tamworth Racing Tips - 24th January

Brett Cavanough could dominate today’s program at Tamworth

Wed, 23 Jan, 09:00

Tamworth’s Showcase card is an absolute cracker and we are tipping a huge day for Brett Cavanough. He has our best bet of the day going around as well as our next best!

Tamworth is racing on a Good 4 with the rail true.

Tamworth Race 1 - 1:20PM Mercure Tamworth – Class 3 Showcase Handicap (1000 Metres)

Pretty keen on DREAM CHARGE after her impressive first-up win at Cessnock last time out. The John Ramsey-trained four-year-old hadn’t raced since February last year but after sitting fourth in the run, sprinted too well for her rivals in winning in Class 2 company on January 8. Has to take the step up but has shown she is a horse on the way up.

 1st: No2 DREAM CHARGE 2nd:  No5 Lips N Lashes; 3rd: No1 Postmaster General; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No6 Fiery Eminence

Tamworth Race 2 - 1:55PM In Memory Of Errol French – Showcase Maiden Handicap (1600 Metres)

This Grant Allard-trained runner didn’t have a great deal of luck last time out but drawn one here, could be a serious player. ONEMOREFORLUCK was last in a big field of 14 at Tuncurry on December 18 but made up a stack of ground to work home stylishly when fourth to Azarmin. The extra 200m of this definitely suits as does the gun draw.

1st: No5 ONEMOREFORLUCK 2nd:  No1 Magic Charlee; 3rd: No7 Pleasure Bomb; 4th: No11 Lord Byron

Tamworth Race 4 - 3:05PM – Country Only Showcase Maiden Plate (1200 Metres)

Brett Cavanough’s filly should break her maiden in this. CHARLOTTE’S HEART (BEST BET) had to do all the work outside the leader last start at Muswellbrook and battled on well to finish second to Beaufort Park. She has finished runner-up at both career starts to date. Draw eight, expect her to go forward and take a power of beating once again.

1st: No11 CHARLOTTE’S HEART 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No4 The Excehquer; 3rd: No14 Timid; 4th: No1 Augusta In April

Tamworth Race 5 - 3:40PM Corey’s Catering – F&M Benchmark 58 Showcase Handicap (1400 Metres)

Prepared to give DAIQUIRI LASS another go after she failed in Highway grade last start. The four-year-old never featured in the race won by Our Rosemaree in early December and has been kept fresh since that day. Interestingly that was her second run this prep and at both runs second-up she is yet to place. Gets in good here with Reece Jones’ 3kg claim. Drawn two she should be in the firing line throughout.

1st: No1 DAIQUIRI LASS 2nd:  No3 Moana Marie; 3rd: No5 Balantes; 4th No4 Off The Dial

Tamworth Race 8 - 5:25PM Whiskey Mountain Boys Country Music Cup (1200 Metres)

This gelding comes into this race second-up and shapes to take a power of beating. STILL UNDAUNTED (NEXT BEST) ran on strongly when resuming and pushed Star Crossed all the way at Muswellbrook to finish a narrow second. Has won twice second-up previously and has an excellent career strike rate. The wide draw is a hurdle but if he gets any luck, he wins.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No8 STILL UNDAUNTED 2nd:  No4 De La Hoya; 3rd: No1 Goldstream 4th: No3 Professor Marx
