Thursday Racing Tips - 31st January

Great day of racing today at Scone and Werribee and we have found a few serious chances that look well placed to be very competitive.

Scone and Werribee are the meetings today’s selections come out of as we look to finish the month off on a high. Our top pick drops back from city grade and looks ready to make a big impression. Has solid form around her and is a big danger.

Scone is racing on a Good 3 with the rail out 3m entire circuit.

Werribee is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 5m entire circuit.

Scone Race 2 - 1:50PM Segenhoe Maiden Plate (900 Metres)

Looks a perfect race for LOOKSEA to break through first-up here today. Has had a month break and won a trial leading into his return. Looks a weak field and we expect this gelding to be very dominant. The one to beat.

1st: No3 LOOKSEA 2nd: No2 Harbouring; 3rd: No7 Star Factor; 4th: No4 Miss Devinci

Scone Race 3 - 2:25PM Kia Ora Stud 2019 Stallion Nominations Class 3 Hp – Heat of the Rising Star 1300m (1300 Metres)

MORE CHILLI is a lightly raced gelding that looks well placed to bounce back into the winner’s circle here today. Has placed at all six starts to date (6:2-2-2) and with the perfect draw he will take a power of beating on a track where he has a perfect record. Ticks all the boxes.

1st: No2 MORE CHILLI 2nd: No1 General Artie; 3rd: No3 Foxdown; 4th: No5 Albert’s No Pussy

Werribee Race 4 - 4:00PM Vote for Irukandji in the All Star Mile Class 1 Handicap (1110 Metres)

FAST STEPPING (NEXT BEST BET) is a lightly raced gelding out of the Waterhouse/Bott stable that looks perfectly placed to go back-to-back. Resumed with a strong win at Geelong last time out and will be better for the outing. Drawn two and gets the champ Brett Prebble aboard. Rates on top.

1st: No1 FAST STEPPING 2nd: No3 Rose Ahead; 3rd: No6 Serious Moonlight; 4th: No2 Melveen

Scone Race 6 - 4:20PM “Headwater @ Vinery” 3YO & UP Maiden Handicap (1100 Metres)

SINGLE SAPPHIRE (BEST BET) finished 2.8 lengths behind Vegadaze at Canterbury and back in this grade she will be the one they all need to beat. Three-year-old filly out of the astute Snowden stable that’s ready to give this an almighty shake. Drawn to get the run of the race, hard to beat.

1st: No11 SINGLE SAPPHIRE 2nd: No8 Luna Mia; 3rd: No2 Ta Chanson; 4th: No4 Free Esprit

Scone Race 8 - 5:30PM Widden Benchmark 66 Handicap (1100 Metres)

ANCHOIS looks well placed to keep her consistent form going over the 1100m today. Finished 2.8 lengths behind Sei Stella at Randwick mid-December and that form should see him prove tough to beat in this grade. Will be the one storming home in the straight. Danger.

1st: No2 ANCHOIS 2nd: No1 Falster; 3rd: No5 Kedah; 4th: No8 Love For Willow
