Wednesday Morphettville Tips - 6th February
A couple of first starters have caught our eye heading into the Morphettville card today.
Adelaide is our main focus today and we have come up with three rock solid chances on the seven-event program. A few first starters have caught our eye including a two-year-old that is going around in the opening event. Trainer Tony McEvoy has good barn of juveniles this season and this filly could definitely be one of the better ones.
Morphettville is racing on a Good 3 with the rail out 3m from 1000-WP, true the remainder.
Morphettville Race 1 - 3:10PM (AEDT) hit107/SABOIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1000 Metres)
ROWSTHORN has trailed nicely in preparation for her debut and is our on top selection. Out of the astute Tony McEvoy barn, she ran third to Sizzlefly with Brazen Brando second in a trial on this track on Jan 3. The runner-up then ran a cracker behind I Am Immortal in a Preview of the Blue Diamond! Rowsthorn then finished a narrow second to Written In Roses at in a Strathalbyn trial leading into this. Drawn six with Chris Caserta but from what we have seen, she will be winning.
1st: No5 ROWSTHORN 2nd: No2 Kalmar; 3rd: No4 Magic Dee; 4th: No6 Splenetic
Morphettville Race 4 - 4:40PM (AEDT) James Boags / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1550 Metres)
The first starter CHRISTIAN EX brings plenty of interest to the race. Trained by Sam Burford, the son of King of Danes is a five-year-old on debut but has had two recent trials to get him ready for this. The first of those saw him finish third behind Florid and Cable Bay, who have won seven races between them. The latest trial saw him beat Saturday Sorcerer and Kazoom which have won 17 races combined. Christian Ex has the ability, it’s obvious so let’s take a punt on him putting it altogether on the track.
1st: No2 CHRISTIAN EX 2nd: No8 Bar Gem; 3rd: No7 American Hipster; 4th: No10 Pearl Bandit
Morphettville Race 5 - 5:10PM (AEDT) Nutella Palooza – April 20 at Morphettville Racecourse BM60 Handicap (2250 Metres)
ROCKARRAL has been brought across from Victoria and this looks a suitable assignment for him. The Tony McEvoy-trained runner started favourite at Kyneton over 1850m last time out but finished near the tail of the field. That was his second run back from a spell so third-up he should be rock hard fit. Caserta’s 2kg claim helps as does barrier one. Give another go.
1st: No2 ROCKARRAL 2nd: No1 Dr Dependable; 3rd: No4 Pat The Weapon; 4th: No6 Casiraghi
