Wednesday Gold Coast Racing Tips - 20th February
We’ve run our eye over the Gold Coast card and come up with three outstanding chances.
We have found some value on the Gold Coast card today and gone in early on the opening two races, however, we are most confident with our final selection of the afternoon.
Gold Coast is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 7m from the 1400m-WP, 3m the remainder.
Gold Coast Race 1 - 1:55PM (AEDT) Girls On Tour April 6th Maiden Plate (2200 Metres)
HAKWA has been knocking on the door and looks a chance to break its maiden in this. The Kim Craft runner has finished in the placings in three of four runs since resuming from a spell. The daughter of Harbour Watch worked to the line reasonably when second at the Gold Coast last time out and the extra 400m on this race may just suit. Worth a ticket especially from gate one and Colless aboard.
1st: No6 HAKWA 2nd: No9 Miss Fialka; 3rd: No5 Garifullina; 4th: No3 Lake Hillier
Gold Coast Race 2 - 2:34PM (AEDT) Jewel Raceday Dome Package Fillies and Mares Class 4 Plate (1200 Metres)
WINTER PASSAGE was scratched from Doomben last Saturday and saved for this. The three-year-old is giving away age to her rivals but is a three-time winner and has only missed a place once in 10 starts. Has placings to Magic Fox and Macewen of late. Bayle Nothdurft’s 3kg claim gets her in very light here. Hard to beat over the distance.
1st: No5 WINTER PASSAGE 2nd: No4 Splitter; 3rd: No2 Don’t Stutter; 4th: No3 Goodonya Sonja
Gold Coast Race 7 - 5:45PM (AEDT) $500k TAB A.D Hollindale Stakes Qtis Three-Years-Old Benchmark 65 Handicap (1400 Metres)
ELIXIR will appreciate this race and the favourable barrier and looks a strong chance to rack up the second win of his career. The colt drew 10 last start at Eagle Farm but managed to find a good spot, fourth in the run, before finishing third to Get Stuck In over 1400m. That form has been franked with the winner saluting again last Saturday at Doomben. From three, Jeff Lloyd should be able to get the three-year-old into the first four or five and should be finishing off hard in the straight. Top choice.
1st: No2 ELIXIR 2nd: No3 Adoradiva; 3rd: No4 Mishani Braveheart; 4th: No7 Surface To Surface
