How The Autumn Sun & Avilius can help you build your bank

Thu, 7 Mar, 12:00 AM

Group 1 racing continues in both Melbourne and Sydney this weekend with the Canterbury Stakes and Randwick Guineas at Randwick, whilst Flemington plays host to the Newmarket Handicap and Australian Cup.

Both tracks have been playing in superb order recently, giving every horse their chance. The ability to run-on is paramount for both The Autumn Sun and Avilius this weekend. These two well-fancied gallopers look close to “just winning” this weekend, with race shape looking their only hurdle because on form they both look to have a bit on their opposition.

The Autumn Sun is priced up at $1.65* for the Randwick Guineas, whilst Avilius is slightly longer at $2* for the Australian Cup. Both favourites seem short but sweet and here’s why:

  • - Ideal distance ranges: Both gallopers have recorded their peak ratings over the distances they run over this weekend. With so much upside Avilius will no doubt improve this peak rating over further in time.

  • - Opposition looking elsewhere: With main rival to The Autumn Sun, Nakeeta Jane on an Oaks path and plenty of stayers looking for further in the Australian Cup (Muntahaa, Rekindling, Almandin) both these gallopers are there to make a statement.

  • - Both tracks conducive to run-on horses: As eluded to earlier race shape looks just about the only thing that could beat these gallopers. That is mitigated by the long and wide expanses at both Flemington and Randwick.

  • - Two line-finders: When playing in this price range you need a horse that wants to win (unlike Zousain two weeks back for example) and with 6 wins from 8 Australian starts for Avilius and 6 wins from 7 career starts for The Autumn Sun they both know a thing or two about finding the post first.

Though the prices for both runners is short, the opportunity to create value with both runners lies in combining them to create a two-leg multi. By doing so, you should expect to get odds of $3.30* for both gallopers winning, which if played correctly, could perfect bank-builder for the rest of the Autumn Carnival. If you’re eligible for the offers below you could profit handsomely. For example, a winning $200 bet on The Autumn Sun to win the Randwick Guineas ($1.65*) into Avilius to win the Australian Cup ($2*) with BetEasy could return $460.
