Wednesday Sandown Racing Previews & Tips - 3rd April

We are tipping a bit of payback for one galloper which gets the perfect chance to turn the tables on one of its rivals here.

Tue, 2 Apr, 3:00 AM

Strong midweek meeting at Sandown today with a few last start winners looking to continue their good form. Our top selection is out of the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable and has only missed a place twice from nine career outings. Gets the chance to go one better than her previous outing.

Sandown is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail out 6m entire circuit.

Sandown Race 1 - 1:00PM Ladbrokes Plate (1200 Metres)

WEDGETAIL was having his first run in 18 weeks when second at Sale on March 15 and should be fitter for that. Went around in some big two-year-old races early in the season and placed in the Listed Debutant Stakes behind Champagne Boom. Heavily backed last time out. Key player.

1st: No6 WEDGETAIL 2nd:  No5 Thought Of That; 3rd: No7 Deserved 4th: No9 Thermal

Sandown Race 2 - 1:35PM Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap (1200 Metres)

KING’S BROOK defeated Mrs O’Malley by a narrow margin at Mooney Valley last start and is capable of going back-to-back. Showed a good turn of foot to run down her rivals and get the bob on the line. Drawn to get the run of the race and will just need clear galloping room in the straight to be in the finish. Ready to win again.

1st: No5 KING’S BROOK 2nd:  No6 Moet Rose; 3rd No2 My Biddy; 4th: No1 Prepare to Win

Sandown Race 3 - 2:10PM National Apprentice Riders Race (1400 Metres)

Sticking with DALSWINTON to bounce back into the winner’s circle after finishing a length behind Sweet Snitty at Pakenham last start. Will strip fitter second-up and expected to be one of the gallopers making good ground up the straight. Will settle near the rear and be saved for one big crack at them. Major player.

1st: No6 DALSWINTON 2nd:  No2 Lazy Bear; 3rd: No5 Chorus 4th: No1 Andaz

Sandown Race 4 - 2:45PM Handicap (1200 Metres)

HIGH RATIO found More Than Exceed a touch too good when narrowly beaten by that galloper her a fortnight ago. Has drawn perfectly and has the services of champion jockey D Oliver on board. Ticks all the boxes and hard to beat.

1st: No5 HIGH RATIO 2nd:  No2 I’m Telling Ya; 3rd: No4 Golden Halo 4th: No1 Canelo

Sandown Race 5 - 3:20PM Yulong Handicap (2400 Metres)

Lightly raced and consistent mare FANCIFUL TOFF (BEST BET) is the one they all need to beat over the 2400m here today. Just went down in the final stride behind The Delphi at Bendigo last start and can turn the tables on that horse here with a bit of a swing in the weights. Did win well two starts back. Will be in this for a long way. Top pick.

1st: No4 FANCIFUL TOFF 2nd:  No6 The Delphi; 3rd: No7 Por Vous, 4th: No3 El Don

Sandown Race 6 - 3:55PM Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1600 Metres)

DARK CONFIDANT looked ultra impressive when returning from an 18-week layoff with a dominating 3.7 length victory at Kyneton a fortnight ago and looks ready to take the step up in grade here today. Showed a good turn of foot to put her rivals away in a flash down the straight and with that we expect her to be competitive in the city.

1st: No3 DARK CONFIDANT 2nd:  No2 Liveinthefastlane; 3rd: No11 She’s On Time; 4th: No8 Pina

Sandown Race 7 - 4:30PM Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1600 Metres)

ROYAL THUNDER is racing in good form of late and going on his 4.5 length romping at Pakenham last start, he can double up. Led and gave nothing else a chance when streaking to an easy victory and will take plenty of catching over the same distance here. The Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig stable is low flying. Maps to be in front again. Get on!

1st: No6 ROYAL THUNDER 2nd:  No5 Nacar; 3rd: No8 Desidero 4th: No9 Scramjet

Sandown Race 8 - 5:05PM The Big Screen Company Handicap (1400 Metres)

RONAN’S ROCK (NEXT BEST BET) has drawn poorly but looks the galloper to beat in the final event of a great program at Sandown. Is having four weeks between runs after finishing a length behind Wonderful Riri at Mooney Valley last start in a tight finish. Has the form and has won on the track in the past. Big show expected.

1st: No4 RONAN’S ROCK 2nd:  No2 Zaidin; 3rd: No6 Big Night Out; 4th: No8 Makfi Amour
