Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Randwick 4th May
A talented type that has missed just one placing in his career features highly in our selections for the Kenso meeting on Saturday
We have a huge day of racing at Royal Randwick (KENSINGTON) with a few handy gallopers catching our eye. Our best of the day took out a big race during The Championships and we love the way this guy has come back to racing. Clear on a top pick!
Randwick is racing on a Good 4 with the rail True.
Randwick Race 1 - 11:40AM #THERACES Handicap (1000 Metres)
SPACEBOY is resuming from 20 weeks off but with two solid trial victories under his belt, we expect him to go close to taking out the opening race. Will be up near the speed and take plenty of running down. The 2kg claim helps.
1st: No2 SPACEBOY 2nd: No1 Covert Ops; 3rd: No8 Splintex; 4th: No10 Badia
Randwick Race 2 - 12:15PM Events By ATC Handicap (1000 Metres)
HEART CONQUERED is resuming from a 17-week layoff and with a solid trial victory under his belt, so expect this Hawkes-trained galloper to go close to bouncing straight into the winner’s circle over a distance he excels over. Early money suggests he will be primed for a big effort. Danger.1st: No1 HEART CONQUERED 2nd: No3 Golden Tycoon; 3rd: No5 Brook Magic; 4th: No7 Exceltic
Randwick Race 3 - 12:50PM TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap (1400 Metres)
WE CONCUR is a lightly raced gelding with a 50 percent winning strike rate and is yet to miss a place in six starts. Those stats make him the one to beat in today’s Highway. Stormed home after being held up in the straight to defeat Hekansplit by just under a length at Ipswich and stable knows how to win these races. Hard to go past.
1st: No2 WE CONCUR 2nd: No1 Al Mah Haha; 3rd: No3 Je Suis Tycoon; 4th: No9 Dreaming of Biscay
Randwick Race 4 - 1:25PM ATC Heritage Centre Tours Handicap (1800 Metres)
*SCRATCHED* RE EDIT is a lightly raced filly out of the astute C Waller stable that’s lightly raced and a last start winner. Led and proved too good for her rivals when defeating Redemption Road by 1.3 lengths at Hawkesbury. Has had a trial leading into this and looks a nice each way hope at current odds. Win won’t shock.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No11 RE EDIT 2nd: No9 Nobu; 3rd: No5 Eugene’s Pick; 4th: No1 Sondelon
Randwick Race 5 - 2:05PM TAB Rewards Handicap (1100 Metres)
KAPAJACK is a lightly raced gelding that’s resuming from a spell but is a winner first-up previously. This Team Hawkes runner usually drops back in his races but going off his fourth in a recent trial behind Heart Conquered, he looks ready to run a big race fresh. Confident will go close.
1st: No9 KAPAJACK 2nd: No7 Super Ex; 3rd: No3 Zonk; 4th: No4 Miss Exfactor
Randwick Race 6 - 2:45PM Kensington Handicap (1300 Metres)
STROME chased hard to defeat To Your Health by just under a length at Gosford in April and should be ready to go again in this. Will look to settle midfield and be saved for one big crack at them in the straight. Serious chance with the 2kg claim.
1st: No3 STROME 2nd: No2 Shokora; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No8 Jen Rules; 4th: No6 Alart
Randwick Race 7 - 3:25PM TAB.COM.AU Handicap (1250 Metres)
Second-up and poised to strike PASSAGE OF TIME looks perfectly placed to return into the winner’s circle after narrowly going down behind Top Striker a fortnight ago. Did lodge a protest but was unsuccessful on that occasion. Can turn the tables here today and has seen early money with several corporates. Stick with him.
1st: No3 PASSAGE OF TIME 2nd: No2 Top Striker; 3rd: No7 Problem Solver; 4th: No6 Piracy
Randwick Race 8 - 4:05PM May Handicap (1400 Metres)
Sticking with the in-form gelding STAR OF THE SEAS to atone its narrow defeat behind Mahalangur at Randwick a fortnight ago when storming home late to just miss. Yet to miss a place from his nine starts to date winning four on the way sees this galloper the one to beat. Will be thereabouts at the finish.
1st: No8 STAR OF THE SEAS 2nd: No4 Albumin; 3rd: No5 Man From Uncle; 4th: No6 Turnberry
Randwick Race 9 - 4:45PM Australian Turf Club Handicap (1550 Metres)
BOBBING (BEST BET) is the pick of the program at Randwick today. A lightly and consistent gelding, he’s ready to make it back-to-back victories after saluting at Randwick last start in the Provincial Championships Final. Had put the writing on the wall with an eye-catching performance in the qualifier first-up behind Spring Charlie. Is flying this time in!
1st: No2 BOBBING 2nd: No3 Maktoum; 3rd: No6 Fuchu; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No8 Calculated
