Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Scone 11th May

Scone’s standalone meeting shapes as an absolute cracker and we think Cummings name will be prominent throughout the afternoon.

Day two of the Scone carnival and we have a number of fantastic feature races to look forward to. Our top pick is a lightly raced filly out of the Anthony Cummings yard that has created quite a big impression already in her career. Can live up to the expectations yet again.

Scone is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail 3m from 800m-winning post, true remainder.

QUADDIE:

R5: 2,6,8,9

R6: 1,2,3,6

R7: 3,6,9,11

R8: 1,2,3,6

Scone Race 1 - 12:15PM Inglis 3YO Guineas (1400 Metres)

We look to start the meeting with the in-form MILITARY ZONE ready to make it back-to-back victories after saluting by a narrow margin in the Hawkesbury Guineas. Expect this Team Snowden-trained gelding to settle just behind the speed and be saved for one crack at them in the straight. Has the form to be too good for this lot. Danger.

1st: No1 MILITARY ZONE 2nd: No3 Signore Fox; 3rd: No7 Reginae; 4th: No5 Total Power

Scone Race 2 - 12:50PM Segenhoe Stud Benchmark 78 Handicap (2200 Metres)

FREE FLY TOO defeated Belfast Bella by 1.2 lengths at Hawkesbury last start and looks the one to beat over the 2200m here today. Look for him to cross the field when the gates open and lead or take a sit behind the speed and prove hard to hold out in the straight once he sees daylight. Knows how to win!

1st: No7 FREE FLY TOO 2nd: No6 Fairlight; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No9 King Viv; 4th: No11 Screamer

Scone Race 3 - 1:25PM Yarraman Park Woodlands Stakes (1100 Metres)

Anthony Cummings’ lightly raced and exciting prospect LIBERTINI (BEST BET) will take a power of beating after giving her rivals a galloping lesson last start. Raced away for an impressive 3.3 length victory at Randwick last start and despite the awkward draw, she is the one to beat. Big threat.

1st: No1 LIBERTINI 2nd: No6 Single Blonde; 3rd: No8 Cloud Spirit; 4th: No3 Devachan

Scone Race 4 - 2:05PM Vinery Stud Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100 Metres)

WAGNER chased hard but found one too good on the day when finishing 2.2 lengths behind Signore Fox who goes around in the opening event of the program today. Comes back to a more suitable distance where he has won two of three and finished second in the other start. Confident this Godolphin galloper will go close and should be on the speed throughout.

1st: No6 WAGNER 2nd: No5 Southern Lad; 3rd: No11 Crafty Tycoon; 4th: No8 Anna’s Joy

Scone Race 5 - 2:45PM Emirates Park Denise’s Joy Stakes (1100 Metres)

Looking to make it two victories on the trot, INVICTUS SALUTE is the one to beat over the 1100m here today. Proved too good for Ronstar last time out when leading throughout at Warwick Farm. Is having three weeks between runs, drops to 53kgs and should push forward from seven to find the top again. Keep an eye on the market.

1st: No9 INVICTUS SALUTE 2nd: No6 Evalina; 3rd: No8 Sweet Ava; 4th: No2 Pretty In Pink

Scone Race 6 - 3:25PM TAB Luskin Star Stakes (1300 Metres)

TREKKING (NEXT BEST BET) took out the Group Three Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick last start and can go on with the job here. Has a good record when second-up winning twice and with the gun draw (two), he can settle close to the speed and be thereabouts at the finish. Has won at Listed level previously. Looks ready to explode!

1st: No2 TREKKING 2nd: No3 Brave Song; 3rd: No6 Redouble; 4th: No1 Deploy

Scone Race 7 - 4:05PM Arrowfield Dark Jewel Classic (1400 Metres)

Despite only one victory to date from her 11 starts, INTO THE ABYSS is our on top selection in the feature event. Drawn to get the run of the race, expect her to look for clear galloping room in the straight and unleash her good turn of foot. Has finished narrowly behind Godolphin gallopers Multaja and Laburnum in Group Three company at her past two starts. Today could be her day.

1st: No11 INTO THE ABYSS 2nd: No9 Organza; 3rd No3 Savatiano; 4th: No6 Moss Trip

Scone Race 8 - 4:45PM Coolmore Ortensia Stakes (1100 Metres)

VIRIDINE is fourth-up from a spell and should be peaking for this. Finished half a length behind stablemate Trekking last start and that’s good enough for us to put him on top today. Maps to get back in his races but is one of the better finishers in the race and with clear room, he can win. Major player.

1st: No2 VIRIDINE 2nd: No1 Dothraki; 3rd: No3 Victorem; 4th: No6 Guard Of Honour
