Saturday Racing Tips: Caulfield & Morphettville Best Bets - 11th May

While most of the punting action this weekend focuses on Doomben and Scone, our expert has come up with three genuine chances elsewhere this Saturday.

Thu, 9 May, 12:00 AM

Why not have yourself a nice three-leg multi with our three best bets from Caulfield and Morphettville? Each one of them is on the way up and looks extremely hard to beat.

Caulfield is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail out 10m the entire circuit.

Morphettville is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail out 2m 120mm-WP, true the remainder.

Caulfield Race 1 - 11:50AM Grunt Standing @ Yulong Handicap (2406 Metres)

Imported gelding ALFARRIS could be ready to win his first race in Australia. Out of the high flying Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig stable, Alfarris has had two runs locally and been stepped up in distance each time. First start over the mile he finished fourth over the mile while last start he worked to the line nicely from a little worse than midfield to finish sixth to Plein Ciel in the Easter Cup at Caulfield. Now having his third run, he should settle midfield for Craig Williams and this distance definitely looks up his alley. Gets 6kgs off the toppy which could be the deciding factor.

1st: No4 ALFARRIS 2nd: No1 Eastender; 3rd: No8 Grand Dreamer; 4th: No6 Transact

Caulfield Race 3 - 1:05PM Rod Fenwick Handicap (1600 Metres)

ZOUTORI has to carry a fair bit of weight but we think it can rack up the hat-trick of wins. The Ellerton & Zahra runner has to lump 60kgs but couldn’t have been more impressive winning last start, doing things wrong but still powering over the top of his rivals. Can win again.

1st: No1 ZOUTORI 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No3 Big Night Out; 3rd: No5 Saccharo; 4th: No8 Thunderdome

Morphettville Race 7 - 4:36PM (AEDT) TAB South Australian Derby (2500 Metres)

It is hard to go past MR QUICKIE as your on top selection. The talented gelding has a brilliant strike rate of eight wins and two placings from 11 starts and appears likely to be suited by the staying distance of the derby. Comes into this off a fast-finishing win over 2000m at Caulfield when held up until the straight. Trained by Phillip Stokes on course and gets John Allen on board which are both major ticks.

1st: No2 MR QUICKIE 2nd: No3 Declarationofheart; 3rd: No8 Ridgewood Drive; 4th: No9 Savvy Oak
