Thursday Racing Tips - 16th May

There are some very talented horses going around at Wyong today including our pick of the bunch out of the Bjorn Baker stable.

Tue, 14 May, 00:00

Our expert has run the rule over the Wyong and Hamilton meetings and come up with five outstanding bets that will hopefully put us in a good position for the weekend. The in-form Bjorn Baker stable is in charge of our best bet and she is easily the most highly credentialed horse in her race. She won’t be a maiden for much longer.

Wyong is racing on a Good 4 with the rail in the true.

Hamilton is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail in the true.

Hamilton Race 2 - 11:50AM Delamere Pastoral Maiden Hurdle (3200 Metres)

HURSLEY can go one better than it did last time out. The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace runner was making his debut over the jumps during the recent Warrnambool Carnival and wound up second to Social Element. This gelding loves to race on the speed so expect him to be in the firing line throughout. Is capable of winning this.

1st: No6 HURSLEY 2nd: No4 Double Bluff; 3rd: No1 Assertive Star; 4th: No2 Beyond Thankful

Wyong Race 1 - 12:00PM Kooindah Waters – Race Stay & Play Maiden Plate (1000 Metres)

We are expecting a big run from RIVER BIRD first-up from a spell. The Jason Coyle runner has had 10 career starts for five placings with four of those being seconds. Last time out he was unplaced in Military Zone’s Gosford Guineas which is infinitely harder than this. Prior to that pushed the smart Ljungberg all the way at Canterbury. This filly warmed up for her return to racing with an impressive trial win at Warwick Farm beating Snow Valley and Prophet’s Thumb with the latter franking the form, placing in the Denise’s Joy at Scone over the weekend. On top selection!

1st: No2 THE GOLDEN BEAR 2nd: No4 Zenardini; 3rd: No1 Nowyunomi; 4th: No3 Costa Zou

Wyong Race 3 - 1:20PM Club Toukley RSL 3YO Maiden Handicap (1350 Metres)

EMBRACER (NEXT BEST BET) can repay his supporters in the third at Wyong today. The colt was heavily backed on debut ($3-$2.40) at Warwick Farm and after racing on the speed, couldn’t quite reel in the leader and winner Hostwin Supreme. Is sure to strip fitter and with the benefit of race experience, expect this Waterhouse & Bott runner to be hard to beat.

1st: No1 EMBRACER 2nd: No2 Task And Purpose; 3rd: No10 Mandalong One Up; 4th: No5 Niccirose

Wyong Race 4 - 2:00PM Toukley Golf Club 2YO Maiden Plate (1100 Metres)

Mark Newnham’s talented filly BLAZING MISS (BEST BET) appears to be a standout. The two-year-old has placed on three of five occasions but check out some of the horses she has finished just behind – Cosmic Force, Tenley and Amercement! Any of those would start long odds-on in this. Hasn’t raced since early Feb but warmed up for this with a four length trial win at Randwick. Only bad luck stops her winning.

1st: No10 BLAZING MISS 2nd: No11 Mini Boom; 3rd: No2 Exceedance; 4th: No1 Dream Circle

Wyong Race 5 - 2:35PM Wyong Roos Foundation Handicap (1100 Metres)

Prepared to give FRIKKERS another chance. The former Kiwi was first-up in Australia on April 20 at Kembla Grange and was in the market, however, drifted significantly late in betting which told the tale in the race. After leading the gelding compounded and a vet’s examination revealed poor post race recovery. The Bjorn Baker runner then trialled impressively at Hawkesbury, nearly winning by three lengths. Barrier 11 might be a bit tricky but Christian Reith may push forward at the start to find a spot close to the speed. Give another go.

1st: No1 FRIKKERS 2nd: No4 Cops And Robbers; 3rd: No7 Set Goals; 4th: No8 North
