Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Rosehill 18th May

Rosehill takes centre stage and what a great meeting we have which features the 2019 Lord Mayor’s Cup.

Wed, 15 May, 12:00 AM

Looking forward to a great day on the punt at Rosehill where the leading stables should give us plenty to cheer about. Our top pick looks a filly with a touch of class and appears to ready to win again after landing a sensational betting move last time out.

Rosehill is racing on a Good 4 with the rail True.

R6: 3,8,9,11

R7: 3,5,8

R8: 1,6,7,9

R9: 2,8,12

Rosehill Race 1 - 11:30AM Lonhro Hall Of Fame Handicap (1200 Metres)

DIAMOND THUNDER has won his past two starts since resuming from a spell and looks poised to keep his winning ways going. Won with authority when defeating Hulk by 1.3 lengths at Warwick Farm a fortnight ago and looks poised to win again going on that dominant victory. Major player.

1st: No1 DIAMOND THUNDER 2nd: No3 Hulk; 3rd: No5 Snowzone; 4th: No6 Freaky Freckles

Rosehill Race 2 - 12:05PM TAB Highway Handicap (1200 Metres)

First-up from a 23-week layoff, GREEN REIGN is the one to beat in today’s Highway Handicap over the 1200m. Won his debut at Ipswich back in December last year before going to the paddock. Has looked impressive wining two trials leading into this and trainer knows what it takes to win these races. Keep an eye on any late money for it.

1st: No6 GREEN REIGN 2nd: No9 Elm Court; 3rd: No1 Mick The Hat; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No5 Bullet Speed

Rosehill Race 3 - 12:40PM Might and Power Hall Of Fame Handicap (1800 Metres)

Sticking with *SCRATCHED* ELSH LEGEND to atone it’s 1.3 length defeat behind Wolfe at Canterbury 10 days ago. Chased hard but couldn’t reel in the Waterhouse/Bott-trained galloper that was too smart on the day but today is the day she bounces back into the winner’s stall. Will strip fitter and take a power of beating over the 1800m. Strongly fancied.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No13 WELSH LEGEND 2nd: No12 Jazzland; 3rd: No5 Maddison Avenue; 4th No2 Mushaireb

Rosehill Race 4 - 1:15PM Jim Cassidy Hall Of Fame Handicap (1500 Metres)

HARMATTAN has drawn to get the run of the race and looks poised to bounce back after just missing in a blanket finish at Hawkesbury last start. This looks a perfect race for the mare and the astute Godolphin stable will have her rearing to go. Drops 4.5kgs for this.

1st: No12 HARMATTAN 2nd: No4 Star of the Seas; 3rd: No10 Hogmanay; 4th: No7 Mawaany Machine

Rosehill Race 5 - 1:55PM Jack Denham Hall Of Fame Handicap (1100 Metres)

CALL ME ROYAL is a lightly raced Sebring filly that’s first-up from a three-month break and with the two trials under her belt she will be primed to run a big race here today. Did win back-to-back races at Canterbury last preparation and if she brings that form here today, she’s the one they all need to beat. Has a touch of class.

1st: No6 CALL ME ROYAL 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No5 Tchaikovsky; 3rd: No14 Burning Crown; 4th: No12 Legislation

Rosehill Race 6 - 2:35PM JB Cummings Hall Of Fame Handicap (1400 Metres)

REELEM IN RUBY (BEST BET) looked ultra-impressive when proving too smart for her rivals last time out. Was heavily backed when knocking off Plenty at Warwick Farm on May 1 with that galloper then running another cracking race at the Farm earlier in the week. Looks to be a filly with plenty of upside and being out the in-form Team Snowden stable, expect her to fire again despite taking a step up in class. Ticks all the boxes and clear top pick.

1st: No9 REELEM IN RUBY 2nd: No8 Eawase; 3rd: No11 Alnaas; 4th: No3 Strome

Rosehill Race 7 - 3:15PM Lord Mayors Cup (2000 Metres)

ABDON is a last start winner and looks ready to take out today’s Lord Mayors Cup over the 2000m. The Chris Waller runner has won twice over the distance and placed on another four occasions so you know he will run the trip. Comes into this off a victory in the Wagga Cup when landing a good betting move. Look for him launching at them late as he should settle in a midfield spot.

1st: No3 ABDON 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No2 Sixties Groove 3rd: No5 Grey Lion; 4th: No8 Emperor’s Way

Rosehill Race 8 - 3:55PM So You Think Hall Of Fame Handicap (1200 Metres)

DEPRIVE (NEXT BEST BET) hasn’t raced since winning at Randwick in late December but goes very well fresh and can make an impact in this. Has drawn perfectly in three and has the benefit of two recent trials as well, the latest of those when winning at Randwick. Is a winner twice from three starts first-up and has only missed a place once in seven career starts. Hard to beat.

1st: No6 DEPRIVE 2nd: No7 Piracy; 3rd: No1 Gresham; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No9 Zonk

Rosehill Race 9 - 4:35PM Hugh Bowman Hall of Fame Handicap (1400 Metres)

*SCRATCHED* RONSTAR is the one to beat in the final event of the program at Rosehill today. A lightly raced gelding that’s racing in great form, he led throughout to beat Up Trumpz at Warwick Farm last start. Has a liking for this track and with any luck in running expect him to be too good for his rivals. Danger.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No4 RONSTAR 2nd: No2 Mapmaker; 3rd: No12 Calculated; 4th: No8 Echo Jet
