Monday Racing Tips - 27th May
Ballarat has a few key runners we are keen to have a lash on to get our punting week off to a flyer!
There are a few youngsters that have caught our eye at Ballarat that are sure to make an impression today but we are also predicting that Greg Ryan will have a big day out at Dubbo. Our best selection of the day comes nice and early from Ballarat though and should be winning barring bad luck.
Ballarat is racing on the Synthetic with the rail true the entire circuit.
Dubbo is racing on a Good 4 with the rail in the true.
Ballarat Race 1 - 1:00PM Cervus Equipment Ballarat 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate (1100 Metres)
Going on her last start effort, FIGHTING FAITH (BEST BET) should be winning this. The daughter of Fighting Sun was brave first-up from a spell after being forced to sit three-deep the trip at Echuca on May 12. She finished a close second to the leader and winner, Queen’s Authority, and will take plenty of benefit from the outing. Small field suits and John Allen is a key booking for Maher & Eustace.
1st: No3 FIGHTING FAITH 2nd: No1 Alfiore; 3rd: No5 Ordell; 4th: No2 Clever Choice
Dubbo Race 4 - 1:25PM Shine Bright Like A Diamond Ball Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1600 Metres)
Going with the Wayne Hudd-trained youngster PAULDRON to get the money in this. Has only had the four starts for a win at Wellington three runs ago, however, most of this lot haven’t really shown a great deal of late so this could be ideal for him. Giving away age to his rivals but worth a ticket after coming in fourth at Queanbeyan last time out. The booking of Greg Ryan is a big tick! Maps to be on the speed.
1st: No6 PAULDRON 2nd: No5 Mayaman; 3rd: No3 Stoke It Up; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No8 Tropicana Lass
Dubbo Race 5 - 2:05PM AFA Insurance Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1600 Metres)
Prepared to give THE CYPRIAN another go after being luckless last time out. No real guide when he began too well and was planted three-wide the trip in Class 1 company at Tamworth on April 28. Trainer Brett Cavanough has given him a freshen since and going off his maiden win at Scone two starts ago, he is worth a ticket in this at each way odds.
1st: No8 THE CYPRIAN 2nd: No10 Greenskeeper; 3rd: No11 Modern Family; 4th: No3 Litt Up
Dubbo Race 8 - 3:55PM Regional Australia Insurance Solutions Winter Country Classic Qualifier CG&E Benchmark 58 Handicap (1300 Metres)
MARAKOWA will enjoy this slightly easier assignment for trainer Rod Northam. Went around at Scone last time out and after enjoying a good run on the fence, hit the front early in the straight only to be swamped late in finishing fifth to the smart High Shine. Before that finished seventh to Major Danger in TAB Highway company. Has to lump 59.5kgs for Greg Ryan here but that won’t be an issue. Barrier 16 is a little tricky so expect to see him a little worse than midfield.
1st: No6 MARAKOWA 2nd: No12 Toulon Brook; No; 3rd: No16 Mark My Word; 4th: No10 Demonize
Ballarat Race 7 - 4:00PM Sportsbets Power Play BM58 Handicap (1400 Metres)
Loved the way HIGH EXCALEBRATION (NEXT BEST BET) broke through in maiden company last time out at just his second start. Enjoyed a good run just off the leaders before peeling three-wide on the bend and blowing them away, racing to an impressive 2.75l win. Second horse (St Edwards Crown) has franked the form by placing in a Saturday metro at Flemington two days ago. Harder here and goes up against older rivals but hard to tip against him.
1st: No4 HIGH EXCALEBRATION 2nd: No6 Outboard Motors; 3rd: No2 Encanto; 4th: No9 Simeoni
