Tuesday Racing Tips - 18th June

There are a few familiar names we are relying on to get us the chocolates across the Ballarat and Nowra cards this afternoon.

Mon, 17 Jun, 12:00 AM

It’s looking like a big day out for Matty Dale and Nick Heywood at the Nowra card while the powerful Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig team have one going around on the Synthetic at Ballarat that looks perfectly placed to do the job for punters.

Our best of the lot though is early on at Nowra with this maiden galloper putting in a huge effort on debut and off the back of that, he can definitely win today’s event.

Nowra is racing on a Soft 7 with the rail out 3m from 850m to 350m, then cutaway applies

Ballarat is racing on the Synthetic.

Nowra Race 2 - 1:10PM KNK Builders Maiden Handicap (1200 Metres)

Matthew Dale appears to have another handy one on his books in the shape of SCROOGE (BEST BET). A three-year-old, Scrooge was on debut at Wagga on June 4 and was given a huge task at his first look at the races.

Drawn 14, Blaike McDougall couldn’t do much as he was trapped three-wide at the rear for most of the race but what impressed most was the way he hit the line powerfully to finish third behind Fabulous Fran. His was easily the best run in the race and things look perfect for him to break the maiden in this.

Has handled the Soft already and goes up another 200m which doesn’t look an issue at all. Gets barrier four this time with Nick Heywood aboard. Will settle closer and will be there at the finish.

1st: No1 SCROOGE 2nd:  No3 Tic Tock Man; 3rd: No8 Port Of Jeddah; 4th: No5 Eskimo River

Ballarat Race 4 - 1:40PM The Haymarket Ballarat Maiden Plate (1000 Metres)

Having a shot at the stumps with WHENEVER HUGO in this after a good run here three weeks ago. Led easily from gate seven and gave them something to chase before being collared by Manasari which bolted in. Was nosed out of second and appeared to have enough on the line but they did run a record time. Drawn 15 here it will be a bit harder for the gelding to cross but the ease in which he did so last time out suggests jockey Samuel Payne may throw caution to the wind once again. Can run another good race.

1st: No9 WHEREVER HUGO 2nd:  No3 Global Hero; 3rd: No12 Miss Scalini; 4th: No8 Unique Goldy

Nowra Race 3 - 1:50PM My Travel Festival Nowra Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1600 Metres)

PERFECT RHYME is having her third run for Matty Dale now and should be nearing peak fitness. The five-year-old is an ex-Darren Weir galloper who went around in some handy races last prep and showed her share of ability. First-up for Dale she was outclassed at Hawkesbury behind Signore Fox, with that form franked when he won in Listed company a fortnight ago at Eagle Farm.

Heavily backed last start but appeared one-paced when fifth at Canberra after a good run but her second-up stats aren’t anyway. Stays at the mile for this and gets Mitchell Bell aboard. Barrier one means she will be up on the speed throughout and hard to toss.

1st: No7 PERFECT RHYME 2nd:  No5 Confident Lad; 3rd: No2 He’s Elusive; 4th: No6 High Potential

Ballarat Race 6 - 2:50PM Porter Plant BM64 Handicap (1400 Metres)

Don’t mind the chances of SHE’S SENSATIONAL in this especially since we are getting eachway odds about her. Out of the astute Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig establishment, She’s Sensational has shown a liking for synthetic tracks by winning and placing at her only two starts on the surface. Did all the bullocking work outside the leader last start at Pakenham and with a cheaper run in this, the filly is more than capable of figuring in the finish.

1st: No2 SHE’S SENSATIONAL 2nd:  No9 Socialising; 3rd: No1 Fast Plan; 4th: No6 Straover

Nowra Race 5 - 3:00PM Chilli & Chocolate Festival Nowra Maiden Plate (1400 Metres)

Expecting a bit more improvement from IZZY LOOKING GOOD (NEXT BEST BET) here. The Jamie Stewart runner was coming off a five-week freshen up when fourth to Actuarial at the Sapphire Coast on June 9. Was back in the pack for most of it and over-racing yet still found the line reasonably well but appeared to have enough at the 100m mark. Heywood takes the ride and if he can settle a bit better in running, is definitely capable of finishing them off down the straight.

1st: No4 IZZY LOOKING GOOD 2nd:  No2 Hotel Amour; 3rd: No10 Pekna; 4th: No1 Devil Dan
