Wednesday Doomben Best Bets - 19th June

Tony Pike has had a huge Brisbane carnival and it could continue here with a noted wet tracker looking ideally suited.

We have come up with three good bets on the Doomben card today and Kiwi trainer Tony Pike is responsible for one of those. This galloper has had two runs in Australia and gets all the conditions to suit today. Will be powering home at the finish.

Doomben is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail out 10.5m the entire course

Doomben Race 3 - 12:33PM TAB Qtis Two-Years-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate (1200 Metres)

FLAG RAISER is worth another chance in this after never being in the contest first-up. The gelding was slow to begin and trapped last inside on the rails, getting buffeted by the horse on his outside and blocked for clear running until well into the straight. He was well supported that day, as he was on debut at the Gold Coast, when third after leading. Has handled Soft going before and can settle much close to the speed from barrier five. Good chance.

1st: No5 FLAG RAISER 2nd:  No12 Ziemba; 3rd: No2 Biggie; 4th: No1 Above The Sky

Doomben Race 4 - 1:38PM TAB Two-Years-Old Fillies Maiden Plate (1200 Metres)

CENTREFIRE is capable of scoring first-up in this. The Chris Munce-trained runner hasn’t been seen at the races since late February when finishing a fading sixth to Miss Cavallo at Doomben. Led and weakened on that occasion but go on her previous efforts which included a handy fourth to the talented Garibaldi at Eagle Farm. Take on trust.

1st: No1 CENTREFIRE 2nd:  No5 Kusama; 3rd: No11 Violet; 4th: No10 That’s Tilly

Doomben Race 7 - 2:53PM KENO Benchmark 65 Handicap (2240 Metres)

Tony Pike runner SACRED DAY looks set to be peaking for this assignment. The Kiwi is having his third run here in Australia and has gradually been stepped up in distance so far. Found the line nicely behind Red Colour over the mile before a third to Our Mantra here at on June 5. Gets Soft conditions which he has placed in four of six starts and the step up to 2240m is right up his alley. Hard to toss.

1st: No1 SACRED DAY 2nd:  No2 Private Hero; 3rd: No10 Tantalus; 4th: No6 Angela’s Beauty
