Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Randwick 20th July

Randwick, Hugh Bowman and a galloper on a winning streak – does that sound familiar?

Fri, 19 Jul, 12:00 AM

Royal Randwick is the venue for metro racing in Sydney and we get to see a few exciting gallopers go around including our best of the day. Trained by Adam Duggan, this youngster is unbeaten so far in his career and gets the services of Hugh Bowman once again. Yes, this gelding can make it four straight!

Randwick is racing on a Good 4 with the rail +12m 1600m – WP, +10m remainder.

R6: 1,2,5

R7: 1,5,7,8

R8: 2,5,9,10

R9: 8,11,12

Randwick Race 1 - 11:35AM Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400 Metres)

MANDELA has drawn to get the run of the race and looks well placed to break through second-up. Chased hard in the straight but veered out late to cost itself victory in the race won by Exceed The Stars at Canterbury earlier this month. Has trialled impressively since. Serious chance.

1st: No3 MANDELA 2nd: No4 Havin Fun; 3rd: No7 Starla; 4th: No1 Roman Wolf

Randwick Race 2 - 12:10PM TAB Highway (1100 Metres)

HEALING HANDS is resuming from a 22-week spell and with a solid five length trial victory under his belt this galloper will go into today’s Highway full of confidence. Had drawn well and expected to be there when in matters. Keep safe.

1st: No5 HEALING HANDS 2nd: No1 Irish Songs; 3rd: No12 Moonshine Lady; 4th: No4 Mr Wong

Randwick Race 3 - 12:45PM Book Spring Hospitality Handicap (1200 Metres)

SIR ELTON (BEST BET) has made a big impression to start his racing career winning all three starts to date but this is his toughest test so far. Does need to lump 60kgs but the good gallopers can. Bowman sticks and so do we. Likely to lead and give them something to catch.

1st: No3 SIR ELTON 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No5 Stella Sea Sun; 3rd: No6 Haut Brion Her 4th: No8 Misteed

Randwick Race 4 - 1:20PM TAB Handicap (1400 Metres)

JUDGE JUDI was scratched from a midweek meeting at Warwick Farm for today’s event over the 1400m so the stable must be full of confidence here today. Won when resuming at Canterbury a fortnight back and if the speed is on up front look for her too be swooping on them late. Rates well.

1st: No7 JUDGE JUDI  2nd: No3 Bangkok; 3rd: No6 Velocita; 4th: No8 The Party Girl

Randwick Race 5 - 1:55PM Eremein Handicap (2000 Metres)

*SCRATCHED* ATTORNEY (NEXT BEST BET) is a lightly raced gelding on the way up and looking to rack up the hat-trick of victories here today. Has won his last two starts impressively and going on the way he defeated Matowi at Canterbury a last start he is the one they all need to beat. Possesses a good turn of foot and capable of running fast late sectionals. Big watch.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No6 ATTORNEY 2nd: No4 Wu Gok; 3rd: No8 White Boots; 4th: No7 Dagny

Randwick Race 6 - 2:35PM Everest Carnival Handicap (1800 Metres)

DR DRILL is racing in consistent form of late and will be out to atone his length defeat behind Wu Gok on this track a fortnight back. Will settle on speed and prove hard to run down over the 1800m yet again. Drawn wide so will need luck getting in but has the ability to be too good for his rivals. The one to beat.

1st: No1 DR DRILL 2nd: No2 Loveisli; 3rd: *SCRATCHED*  No11 Ulusaba; 4th: No5 Toryjoy

Randwick Race 7 - 3:15PM PFD Food Services Handicap (1400 Metres)

Can’t see anything upsetting the in-form LJUNGBERG that won impressively last start and looks well placed to go back-to-back. Showed a good turn of foot in the straight to defeat his rivals by two lengths on this track last start and the step up to the 1400m makes him the one they all need to beat. Winning form is good form. Rates well.

1st: No8 LJUNGBERG 2nd: No5 Notation; 3rd: No7 Gongs; 4th: No1 Gresham

Randwick Race 8 - 3:55PM Winter Racing Handicap (1600 Metres)

MONSIEUR SISU has a superb record over the distance and despite not tasting success on this track after five starts, this gelding is ready to break that hoodoo here today over the mile. Nabbed in the shadows of the post by Attention last start and has the form to atone that narrow defeat here today. Stick with him.

1st: No2 MONSIEUR SISU 2nd: No10 Travancore; 3rd: No5 Condor; 4th: No9 Zavance

Randwick Race 9 - 4:35PM ATC Member Tours Handicap (1000 Metres)

*SCRATCHED*  GREYWORM is a lightly raced and consistent galloper from the astute Hawkes stable that is primed to resume on a winning note. Has won a trial leading into this and does look hard to go past going on his efforts last preparation. Is two-for-two first-up! Major player.

1st: *SCRATCHED*  No4 GREYWORM 2nd: No12 Natalia; 3rd: No11 Power Command; 4th: No8 Royal Witness
