Wednesday Sandown Racing Previews & Tips - 24th July
We are banking on Team Snowden to deliver the goods for us with our best of the day at Sandown.
Strong midweek meeting at Sandown today with a few races that look open and could produce a rough result. Our top pick is a last start winner, comes out of the Peter and Paul Snowden barn and shapes as the one they all need to beat after producing a big finish last time out. Will relish the 1300m.
Sandown is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail Out 3m.
Sandown Race 1 - 12:25PM Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1000 Metres)
Resuming from an 18-week break, *SCRATCHED* TALENTED is the one to beat in today’s opening event and she only has to be fit enough to win this. Won on debut at Geelong before second to the brilliant Microphone in Listed grade. Went for a break after running third to Flit in Group Three company.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No2 TALENTED 2nd: No1 Done By Me; 3rd: No8 Seatonic; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No6 Oceanic Drift
Sandown Race 2 - 1:00PM Ladbrokes Handicap (1300 Metres)
MAOZI (BEST BET) has drawn well and looks hard to beat going on her hard-fought victory on this track a fortnight back. Chased hard to gain the upper hand in the final few strides to narrowly defeat Hafaawa over the 1200m. Will appreciate the extra 100m and expected to go close.
1st: No2 MAOZI 2nd: No1 Sansom; 3rd: No4 No Change; 4th: No8 Ring of Honour
Sandown Race 3 - 1:35PM Long Fine Plate (1800 Metres)
Drawn to get the run of the race, CONNERY is the one to beat here today. Chased hard when finishing 2.7 lengths behind Come on Carl at Flemington a month back and meets that galloper far better at the weights here. Williams sticks and so do we.
1st: No4 CONNERY 2nd: No1 Inverloch; 3rd: No2 Come on Carl; 4th: No8 Stormy Shore
Sandown Race 4 - 2:10PM Blue Star Print Handicap (2400 Metres)
Hard to go past the ever-consistent RUBE BRIDGES that hasn’t finished worse than second in five runs since resuming. Looked impressive when saluting by 1.5 lengths at Geelong a fortnight ago, storming away in the final furlong. Has the form and it will take a good one to beat her. Major player.
1st: No8 RUBE BRIDGES 2nd: No3 Meteor Light; 3rd: No6 Clean Acheeva; 4th: No2 The Donchess
Sandown Race 5 - 2:45PM MRC Membership Renewal Handicap (1400 Metres)
Last start winner ANALYTICA is the one to beat going on his 1.7 length victory at Mildura first-up. Liked the way this Patrick Payne galloper charged to the line for an impressive victory after being near last at the 400m and with the stable in good form of late, expect this gelding to prove hard to beat. Respect.
1st: No1 ANALYTICA 2nd: No2 Write Your Name; 3rd: No3 Tower Road, 4th: *SCRATCHED* No7 Firstclass Dreamer
Sandown Race 6 - 3:20PM Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1000 Metres)
TOO GOOD TOO HARD hasn’t raced for 10 weeks and the way she won on debut back in May suggests she can be competitive in this. Looked impressive when defeating Relette by the two lengths at Sale and looks ready to take the step up to city grade going on that victory. Keep safe.
1st: No14 TOO GOOD TOO HARD 2nd: No13 Young Harry Cool; 3rd: No7 Remastered; 4th: No8 Feared Eyes
Sandown Race 7 - 3:55PM Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1600 Metres)
CLEVER BLAZE finished in the placings at her previous start at Pakenham a fortnight ago and looks a lively each way player in an open race. Came from a long way back on the Pakenham Synthetic to finish third on July 7 and is likely to get back in the field once more. Has a big finish on her.
1st: No8 CLEVER BLAZE 2nd: No6 Ghodeleine; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No4 Cryptic Jewel 4th: No13 Casino Angel
Sandown Race 8 - 4:30PM The Big Screen Company Handicap (1400 Metres)
MR TIPLA is a lightly raced gelding that won well last start and looks hard to go past. Got the job done in the final few strides when storming home from the back to defeat La Volt by a neck on this track last start. Is a winner here and can repeat. Big Watch.
1st: No4 MR TIPLA 2nd: No5 Shot of Irish; 3rd: No10 La Volt; 4th: No9 Bellomo
