Friday Racing Tips - 26th July
Fantastic day of racing with the Mildura Cup the highlight and we have found one at each-way odds to have a crack at.
The Mildura Cup is the feature of the day and there is one that we like at juicy odds that could win without surprising. Ballina’s program is on a Heavy surface but we are having a shot at the stumps with our best of the day out of the Toby Edmonds yard. This youngster has only had the one start and although it was an inglorious debut, we are backing him to go much better today.
Ballina is racing on a Heavy 8 with the rail out 3m from 1000m to the 250m, cutaway applies.
Mildura is racing on a Good 4 with the rail in the true.
Ballina Race 1 - 12:15PM Weddings @ The Ballina Jockey Club 2YO Maiden Plate (1010 Metres)
Taking a punt on *SCRATCHED* SPEEDYCOM (BEST BET) to get the money in the opener. The Toby Edmonds runner has only had the one run and that was back in October when contesting the Victory Vein Stakes at Randwick. Speedycom was in the market that day but was planted four and five-wide for most of the trip until he went ‘bush’ on the home turn, dropping out to finish last behind the smart Anaheed. Has had two trials leading into this including a win at Beaudesert on July 19. Give another go.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No5 SPEEDYCOM 2nd: No4 Leshrac; 3rd: No2 Bring Me Some; 4th: No3 Global Venture
Ballina Race 3 - 1:25PM Paradise FM 3YO Maiden Handicap (1260 Metres)
The Kris Lees-trained TIPPLER is capable of breaking her maiden here. Tippler has placed in four of her five career outings with the only blip being an eighth to Full Recognition at Newcastle in March prior to going for a break. Was given a quiet trial in preparation for this. Well drawn in three and should be in the first half dozen turning for home.
1st: No4 TIPPLER 2nd: No2 Dark Euro; 3rd: No1 Christmas Creek; 4th: No14 Runamuk
Ballina Race 4 - 2:05pm Tab Class 1 Handicap (1260 Metres)
MANILA MISS looks well suited to get the second win of her career. Out of the astute Matty Dunn stable, Manila Miss drops in grade after finishing a close fourth to Miss Scorcher during the recent Grafton carnival. The daughter of Sidereus sticks to the 1100m and will strip fitter after her first run since October last year. Has placed two of three when second-up in the past. Can handle the wet.
1st: No9 MANILA MISS 2nd: No1 Nick The Skip; 3rd: No2 Ashman; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No4 King Of The Desert
Mildura Race 7 - 4:00PM bet365 Mildura Cup (1400 Metres)
There are worse $10 shots than MAN FROM UNCLE (NEXT BEST BET). Now in the hands of Austy Coffey, Man From Uncle hasn’t raced since April but is a two-time winner first-up in the past. Gets in well with just 55.5kgs and beat the talented Cliffs’ Edge in a trial at St Arnaud in the lead up to this. Can win.
1st: No3 MAN FROM UNCLE 2nd: No2 Husson Eagle; 3rd: No7 Dexelation; 4th: No9 Rat With Goldtooth
Mildura Race 8 - 4:30PM Mildura Holden & HSV BM64 Handicap (1400 Metres)
ROCKTHEBLOCK deserved to break through last time out after a string of good performances. There is no reason not to back up again on the Simon Gebert gelding who likes to race on the speed. From barrier, expect Christine Puls to push forward to find a prominent spot once more.
1st: No7 ROCKTHEBLOCK 2nd: No5 Malauka; 3rd: No1 Elmore Lad; 4th: No2 Souffrant
