Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Caulfield 27th July
Fantastic card of racing ahead of us at Caulfield where our best of the day is shooting for a hat-trick of wins at the track.
We have a superb meeting at Caulfield today with a few handy gallopers appearing to be well placed. The pick of our selections has been racing in sensational form and is aiming for a hat-trick of wins at this track and with a 3kg claim, he looks extremely hard to go past. Top rated!
Caulfield is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail Out 6m.
Caulfield Race 1 - 11:55AM Steph Hunter VOBIS Gold Ingot (1400 Metres)
CAN’T BE DONE was narrowly defeated on this track last start and is poised to atone that narrow defeat in today’s opening event. Had to concede 3kgs to the winner on that occasion. Big player again from barrier one.
1st: No1 CAN’T BE DONE 2nd: No2 Igniting; 3rd: No5 Forever Loud; 4th: No7 Spirit Medium
Caulfield Race 2 - 12:30PM Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1100 Metres)
MISS IANO has drawn gate three and should get a lovely run in transit for Craig Williams. Chased hard to just miss out on a placing, beaten by half a length in a blanket finish behind Miss Vixen a fortnight back. Came from the second half of the field to win previously at this track. Go again.
1st: No3 MISS IANO 2nd: No1 Miss Norway; 3rd No7 I Am Queen; 4th: No2 Jorda
Caulfield Race 3 - 1:05PM Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1600 Metres)
Sticking with ROYAL ORDER that will be ready to peak third-up from a break. Got too far back but finished off nicely when beaten by 4.2 lengths behind Reykjavik at Flemington three weeks back and despite the wide draw, expect this gelding to be the one flashing at them late with his good turn of foot. Can figure.
1st: No5 ROYAL ORDER 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No3 Laure Me In; 3rd: No7 Satori; 4th: No1 Strike Force
Caulfield Race 4 - 1:40PM Danny Barrett VOBIS Gold Stayers (2400 Metres)
SOPRESSA looks to have found the right race to bounce back into the winner’s circle here today. Drops in grade recent outings where she has been going around in Listed grade. Has finished second to Igraine and Sacred Day in the Caloundra and Grafton Cups at her past two and that is sensational form for this. Winning hope.
1st: No1 SOPRESSA 2nd: No3 Fanciful Toff; 3rd: No2 Sasko; 4th: No10 Lemon Splice
Caulfield Race 5 - 2:20PM MyPunter.com Handicap (2400 Metres)
Looking to make it three wins on the trot, TAVIRUN (BEST BET) is the one they all need to beat going on his recent victories. Sat behind the speed before unleashing a good turn of foot in the straight to defeat his rivals by 2.2 lengths at this track on July 13. Prior to that led throughout here in brilliant fashion at double-figure odds. Likely to be on the speed again and the 3kg claim for Theo Nugent is a huge tick!
1st: No2 TAVIRUN 2nd: No1 Not a Single Cent; 3rd: No4 American In Paris; 4th: No3 Ripcord
Caulfield Race 6 - 3:00PM Jenna Ross VOBIS Gold Reef (1600 Metres)
TAKSU, out of the Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace barn, is racing in great form of late and looks a major chance to make it three wins on the trot in his toughest test to date. Liked the way he stormed home from the back of the field to defeat Frankly Harvey by a narrow margin at Cranbourne a fortnight ago. Has been good his past two and deserves a shot in town.
1st: No4 TAKSU 2nd: No1 Turn The Tide; 3rd: No6 Wild Flyer; 4th: No8 Zargos
Caulfield Race 7 - 3:40PM Long Fine Plate (1200 Metres)
PICKUP THE PIECES is resuming from a 17-week layoff and looks the one they all need to beat with the 3kg claim for Lewis German. Did win well when first-up last preparation at Kyneton. Out of the astute Hayes & Dabernig yard, she won well fresh last time in. Keep safe.
1st: No5 PICKUP THE PIECES 2nd: No6 Street Icon; 3rd No1 Tell Me; 4th: No2 Voila
Caulfield Race 8 - 4:20PM The Big Screen Company Bletchingly Stakes (1200 Metres)
SESAR (NEXT BEST BET) hasn’t raced for five weeks since taking out the Winter Dash at Randwick. Coming from last, he showed a sensational turn of foot down the straight to win running away over Boss Lane and Jungle Edge. The son of Sebring is a speed machine that won the Group Two Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick late last year. Has the class edge on today’s rivals and expecting another win for Team Hawkes.
1st: No6 SESAR 2nd: No4 Bandipur; 3rd: No8 True Excelsior; 4th: No3 Cliff’s Edge
Caulfield Race 9 - 4:55PM Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap (1400 Metres)
Open race with a stack of chances but sticking with ROMANCER which put in a big run behind Reykjavik at Flemington in the Winter Championship to run second. Has drawn the outside barrier and will need plenty of luck getting in but if he finds cover, watch for him storming home in the straight with his good turn of foot. Need things to go his way but is racing well.
1st: No5 ROMANCER 2nd: No6 Sylpheed; 3rd: No8 Snitzepeg; 4th: No2 Tsahahitsi
