Tuesday Racing Best Bets - 6th August

Scone and Wodonga are the meetings that our selections come from with a noted Highway performer being a standout for us.

There are a couple of gallopers going around at Scone and Wodonga that look well-graded and should be winning today barring bad luck. Our top selection will not find an easier race than this and after not having a great deal go his way in TAB Highway company, will find this more to his liking and should provide an easy kill. Ticks all the boxes racing back in this grade.

Scone is racing on a Good 4 with the rail +3m from 800m – WP, True remainder.

Wodonga is racing on a soft 7 with the rail out 3m.

Scone Race 1 - 1:15PM Scone Equine Hospital Maiden Handicap (1000 Metres)

Third-up from a break and ready to fire, FANCIFUL DREAM (NEXT BEST BET) is the clear top pick in the opening event of the program at Scone today. Chased hard in the straight when finishing less than a length behind Billy Piu Style at Cessnock three weeks back and with the slight freshen up, this filly is poised to break through. The one to beat.

1st: No4 FANCIFUL DREAM 2nd:  No3 Dubai Spoils; 3rd: No10 Never Listen 4th: No1 Dukes County

Scone Race 4 - 3:05PM Segenhoe Stud Class 1 Maiden & Plate (1600 Metres)

Drawn to get the run of the race and with placings at her three previous starts, AIRLIE AVENUE will take a power of beating over the mile. Should have finished closer at her previous start but copped a severe check when going through her gears in the final furlong which cost her victory. Gets her chance to atone for Kris Lees and Andrew Gibbons.

1st: No5 AIRLIE AVENUE 2nd:  No7 Deliya; 3rd: No1 Poulton Le Sands; 4th: No3 Tann Hills

Wodonga Race 6 - 4:00PM Boulevard Motors BM64 Handicap (2050 Metres)

Sticking with the Patrick Payne-trained galloper UPSWING that will be ready to peak now at a distance that suits his racing pattern. Jockey Billy Egan could press forward from the wide gate as this gelding usually races on the speed. Stable is having a good run at present.

1st: No4 UPSWING 2nd:  No3 Weave; 3rd: No9 Run for Raffin 4th: No6 Powers Lookout

Scone Race 7 - 4:50PM Kia Ora Stud 2019 Stallion Nominations Class 2 Handicap (1300 Metres)

Dropping back from City grade, MR WONG (BEST BET) looks the winner in the final event of the program at Scone today. Never saw clear running at his previous start in the Highway Handicap over 1100m at Randwick a fortnight ago when finishing 3.9 lengths behind Irish Songs. Should have finished closer on that occasion.  Will stalk the leaders and look to have the last say in the straight. Major player and clear top pick.

1st: No1 MR WONG 2nd:  No3 Charlotte’s Heart; 3rd: No6 Grand Exit 4th: No8 Lawnmeet

Wodonga Race 8 - 5:00PM Tonkin Plumbing BM58 Handicap (1400 Metres)

Sticking with the topweight and last start winner TYSON RETURNS that has come up with an awkward draw (16) yet again but that didn’t deter him last start when he powered home after being wide for most of the trip at Wangaratta. Just needs to find some cover when the gates open and is capable of doubling up. Winning form is good form.

1st: No1 TYSON RETURNS 2nd:  No8 Master of Norway; 3rd: No2 Go Pro; 4th: No6 Mackstryker
