Wednesday Sandown Racing Previews & Tips - 14th August

Strong midweek meeting which could throw up some tremendous value due to the big fields.

Tue, 13 Aug, 12:00 AM

Very open meeting at Sandown today where there could be some roughies to be found among the eight races. We aren’t tipping a rough result with our top tip though as this horse has been airborne of late and is aiming for four straight wins.

Sandown is racing on a Heavy 10 with the rail out 8m.

R5: 3,10

R6: 3,6,8,10

R7: 3,8,11,14

R8: 7,9

Sandown Race 1 - 1:00PM Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1300 Metres)

The race opens up for LADY LOIRE after the scratching of Excelida. This Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig filly won well on debut at Wagga before a close up third to Star Surprise and Can’t Be Done at Caulfield in mid-July. This is easier and she should get a good run from gate four.

1st: No1 LADY LOIRE 2nd: No7 Singing Sword; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No3 Bonvicini; 4th: No2 Acting

Sandown Race 2 - 1:35PM Le Pine Funerals Handicap (2400 Metres)

*SCRATCHED* INAYFORHAY has drawn well and will be out to make it successive wins after getting the job done at Bendigo a fortnight ago. Liked the way he let go to fend of all challengers and win by just under a length. Well drawn and keep safe.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No2 INAYFORHAY 2nd: No5 Wealthy Wolf; 3rd No3 Meteor Light; 4th: No8 Quaffany

Sandown Race 3 - 2:10PM Blue Star Print Handicap (1000 Metres)

Looking to make it four wins on the trot, ELITE LEGACY (BEST BET) gets the 3kg claim for Jess Eaton and looks hard to toss once more. Proved too strong for his rivals at Bendigo a fortnight when winning by 1.2 lengths. Maps to be on the speed so barrier one is perfect for the Tony Noonan runner. Big watch.

1st: No2 ELITE LEGACY 2nd: No9 Rhames; 3rd: No11 Mahini Mischief; 4th: No10 Al Dorama

Sandown Race 4 - 2:45PM Long Fine Plate (1000 Metres)

*SCRATCHED* Resuming from a 20-week layoff and with a solid trail leading into this under her belt, DIAMOND EFFORT looks poised to strike first-up today. Did win her two previous starts and has the class to give this an almighty shake. Awkward draw but is a noted leader so don’t be surprise to see Damien Oliver push forward at the start. Worth following.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No3 DIAMOND EFFORT 2nd: No12 Paris; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No10 De Little Sister; 4th: No1 Freeze Over

Sandown Race 5 - 3:20PM The Big Screen Company Handicap (1300 Metres)

Looking to atone her narrow defeat behind Ray’s Dream on this track a fortnight ago, *SCRATCHED* TOO GOOD TOO HARD is the one to beat despite the awkward draw she faces. Should have won last start when held up at a vital stage but did extend well when she finally saw some daylight. Can bounce back.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No14 TOO GOOD TOO HARD 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No16 Outlandos; 3rd: No10 Paperboy; 4th: No3 Bronski Beat

Sandown Race 6 - 3:55PM Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1800 Metres)

ROLAND GARROS (NEXT BEST BET) is racing in great form since resuming from a break with the total margin of his two wins being seven lengths! Led and was never in danger at Echuca last start while the same applied at Wangaratta first-up. Likely to lead from gate two again and be hard to run down despite rising in class.

1st: No3 ROLAND GARROS 2nd: No6 Spanish Point; 3rd: No8 Tavistock Dancer; 4th: No10 Akamon

Sandown Race 7 - 4:30PM Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap (1500 Metres)

NUDGE BAR is racing in red hot form of late and on that he cannot be underestimated in today’s event over the 1500m. Has won his past two starts at Morphettville and shapes as the one to beat as he looks to rack up the hat-trick. Ticks all the boxes, should run well.

1st: No3 NUDGE BAR 2nd: No14 Frankly Harvey; 3rd: No11 Kent Street; 4th: No8 Taksu

Sandown Race 8 - 5:05PM MRC Membership Renewal Handicap (1300 Metres)

*SCRATCHED* DONE BY ME is a lightly raced filly out of the Phillip Stokes yard that’s second-up and poised to strike. Expect her to strip fitter for her first-up effort here when third to Seatonic after racing on the speed throughout. Is a winner second-up previously.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No13 DONE BY ME 2nd: No7 She’s Beneficial; 3rd: No9 Gina’s Hope; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No1 See Me Exceed
