Friday Racing Tips -16th August
We have identified a few nice gallopers racing at Dubbo and Geelong today that look well placed and expected to prove hard to beat.
We look to finish the week on a high as we head into a huge weekend of racing with a few selections that look well placed and will prove hard to beat. Our top pick looks poised to strike in today’s event and with Ollie on board, we expect this mare to bounce back over the 1530m.
Dubbo is racing on a Good 4 with the rail +3m 1000m – 400m, true remainder.
Geelong is racing on a Heavy 10 with the rail +7m 1800m – 300m, where cutaway applies, +3m remainder.
Dubbo Race 2 - 1:20PM East Dubbo Hockey Club F&M Maiden Plate (1110 Metres)
Resuming after 16 months and with a solid trial under her belt, ARE YOU DREAMING is perfectly placed to break through at her third start. Has drawn well and has a placing here back in March of last year. Hasn’t been seen since going around in the Wellington Boot. Big watch.
1st: No1 ARE YOU DREAMING 2nd: No8 Pancake; 3rd: No11 I’m Going; 4th: No9 Taldora Miss
Geelong Race 4 - 3:00PM Hutchinson Builders BM64 Handicap (1530 Metres)
Drawn to get the run of the race and with the services of Damien Oliver, KAIMU (BEST BET) will be fit and ready to fire on a track that she has tasted success on in the past. Maps to be prominent from barrier one and with three runs now under her belt, she should be peaking for this. Big show.
1st: No7 KAIMU 2nd: No6 Miss Entice; 3rd: No5 Saint Katarina; 4th: No1 Syd’s Coi
Geelong Race 6 - 4:00PM Cottage By The Sea Cup BM70 Handicap (1330 Metres)
SWANKY CAT is racing in great form and it would be no surprise to see this gelding bounce back after beaten by 1.5 lengths behind Simply Dreaming at Echuca a fortnight ago. If you go on his 2.5 length victory on this track two starts ago then he led throughout on a Heavy 10, he is going to be hard to knock off. Can win.
1st: No8 SWANKY CAT 2nd: No3 Angelucci; 3rd: No5 *SCRATCHED* Rock of Mahal; 4th: No1 Search Squad
Geelong Race 8 - 5:00PM Men’s Health Briseis Cup BM64 Handicap (2247 Metres)
Sticking with LONGCLAW to prove hard to beat in the final event of the program. Started the favourite but couldn’t repay the punters when finishing a nose behind Jajaani at Mildura three weeks back. Has drawn well and looks ready to atone its previous narrow defeat. Winning hope.
1st: No5 LONGCLAW 2nd: No3 Rubme; 3rd: No7 Scherzer; 4th: No1 Wineglass Bay
Dubbo Race 5 - 3:10PM Dubbo City Toyota Dubbo Gold Cup Prelude (1410 Metres)
Racing in career best form and with a solid victory at his last start, IBINI (NEXT BEST BET) is the one they all need to beat over the 1410m. Gets in well with the 4kg drop from his previous effort at Scone and with the gun draw, this Brett Cavanough galloper can go back-to-back. Major player.
1st: No3 IBINI 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No1 Californiafirebird; 3rd: No4 Hope Island; 4th: No2 Cowboys Karma
