Sunday Racing Tips - 25th August
Above-average performers go around at Kalgoorlie while a couple of three-year-olds take the eye at our other venues.
Three-year-olds with great potential caught the eye from Tasmania and New South Wales while out west, in Kalgoorlie, there are couple of class gallopers that look well suited to win and fill our wallets.
Devonport is racing on the synthetic with the rail in the true.
Kalgoorlie is racing on a Good 3 with the rail +10m Cutaway to 7m in the straight.
Muswellbrook is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail +6m 1280m - 300m, where a cutaway applies.
Devonport Race 2 - 12:50pm Thai Imperial Latrobe Benchmark 72 HCP (1150 Metres)
A three-quarter relation to Mystic Journey, MYSTICAL PURSUIT is a wonderfully promising three-year-old. Undefeated before going to the mainland and subsequently featuring prominently in the stewards' report at Moonee Valley, the daughter of Needs Further now makes her Tapeta track debut and, based on upside, should be coming up trumps against some old timers.
1st: No7 MYSTICAL PURSUIT 2nd: No1 Cranbrook; 3rd: No5 Balestrand; 4th: No2 Kenfromthebar
Kalgoorlie Race 2 - 2:10pm Metres Down Under Handicap (1100 Metres)
Last time out, TAJMALI had her first start with Kalgoorlie-based trainer Peter Fernie and bolted up in maiden company by two lengths. She was a handy enough two-year-old, when in the hands of Dion Luciani, and boasts superb form around and behind Karrakatta Plate placegetter Miss West Coast. She should lead here and make it two from two in the Goldfields.
1st: No7 TAJMALI 2nd: No3 Lady Le Jean; 3rd: No6 Emerald Rose; 4th: No 5 Ship Creek
Kalgoorlie Race 4 - 3:30pm The Goldfields Tattersalls Club Cup (1606 Metres)
GANGBUSTER (BEST BET) is looking for three on the bounce and should get it as arguably the best-weighted horse of the entire program at Kalgoorlie. Previously a Listed winner, the six-year-old steps up in grade but should be rounding these up comfortably.
1st: No6 GANGBUSTER 2nd: No7 Macavity; 3rd: No3 Sandalwood; 4th: No1 Bollywood Blitz
Kalgoorlie Race 6 - 4:30pm Frank Turich Memorial Handicap (1760 Metres)
Beaten only one length a fortnight ago by Gangbuster, THE ENCHANTRESS drops in grade (unlike Gangbuster who steps up and looks to be one of the favourites in the fourth) and comes into this race a kilogram off the minimum weight. Her efforts have been steadily improving this preparation and, sixth up, she appears ready to be able to strike.
1st: No6 THE ENCHANTRESS 2nd: No7 Blackbeel; 3rd: No2 Mauldens Mill; 4th: No1 Booma Lacka
Muswellbrook Race 7 - 5:02pm Casino Prince @ Vinery Stud Class 1 Handicap (1000 Metres)
Stephen Jones trains speedy filly *SCRATCHED* CASSY'S SISTER (NEXT BEST) and, off the back of a tick-over trial looks the goods here first time out as a three-year-old. She raced impressively on the Kensington as a two-year-old before running a brave second in the rich Wellington Boot behind Superium which has since run a cracker in the Rosebud. She should lead from barrier one and be too hard to catch over 1000m.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No6 CASSY'S SISTER 2nd: No4 Luna Mia; 3rd: No7 Onyar; 4th: No10 Frozen In Time
