Thursday Racing Tips: Best Bets from Wagga & Warrnambool
Wet trackers will be the order of the day at Warrnambool while our best of the day goes around at Wagga.
The Hayes establishment at Euroa have had a brilliant 12 months and that is set to continue in the opener at Wagga today. Our best bet goes around in race one and appears to have a promising future and if that is the case, then it should be winning this and winning it well. Outside of that, our expert has found four horses to follow at the ‘Bool that could go around at decent odds.
Wagga is racing on a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.
Warrnambool is racing on a Heavy 9 with the rail out 7m the entire circuit.
Wagga Race 1 - 1:00PM Bowyerair Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Showcase 3YO Maiden Plate (1200 Metres)
Was scratched from a harder race last week to be saved for this. Out of the Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig barn, DALAALAAT (BEST BET) has only had the one start and that was back in March when beaten just 1.1 lengths to Mockery at Listed level. The colt has drawn one for today’s assignment and gets Blaike McDougall on board. Hard to beat!
1st: No3 DALAALAAT 2nd: No14 Toffee Doll; 3rd: No13 Tidal Force; 4th: No5 Rent A Rock
Warrnambool Race 1 - 1:30PM Umbers Electrical 3YO Maiden Plate (1100 Metres)
Not a great deal to work with here with the entire field having their first start. *SCRATCHED* FINESSE TESS has proven herself on Heavy ground though as she won her trial at Cranbourne on Aug 19 by over three lengths. Adding to the confidence about backing her is the fact the Trent Busuttin & Nat Young stable are flying!
1st: *SCRATCHED* No4 FINESSE TESS 2nd: No7 Preipo; 3rd: No3 Crowned Lizzie; 4th: No1 Dinga
Warrnambool Race 4 - 3:00PM Mailors Flat Concrete Products Maiden Plate (1400 Metres)
Taking a punt on THE GREAT HANS (NEXT BEST BET) being able to handle the heavy conditions. This four-year-old has only had the one career start but was an eyecatcher in flashing home for second to Unique Goldy at Donald on Aug 10. That race has proven to be a spectacular form reference as the runner-up Legion Of Merit was an easy winner at Swan Hill on Tuesday while the fourth horse (Electric Miss) was second in the opener from the same track. Likely to get back from his wide gate but this Patty Payne runner can finish off strong to be thereabouts again.
1st: No8 THE GREAT HANS 2nd: No1 Basel Maestro; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No13 Au Pair; 4th: No12 Velvet Thunder
Warrnambool Race 6 - 4:00PM eResources Copy Print Systems BM70 Handicap (1700 Metres)
*SCRATCHED* SAVE ME NED is a dead-set mudlark and those are the types of horses we need to follow at the ‘Bool today. This mare has won three times from seven on Heavy and placed a further two times. Adding to positives for her chances in this is her second to here to Mont Angel a fortnight back. Draws four and will be thereabouts again.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No4 SAVE ME NED 2nd: No3 Etna; 3rd: No2 Von Mystic; 4th: No1 Double You Tee
Warrnambool Race 8 - 5:00PM Cassign BM64 Handicap (1300 Metres)
Don’t mind the chances of SOARING EAGLE at the odds. The David Brideoake-trained runner has been thereabouts of late but the big positive for her chances is the Heavy conditions, where she has placed twice in as many starts previously. Comes into this off a narrow fourth to Hard Up when doing a power of work wide for most of the race. Barrier 15 isn’t a help but if she can get a spot somewhere in running then she is capable of finishing off hard.
1st: No11 SOARING EAGLE 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No5 Gigantic Effort; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No7 Yankee Toff; 4th: No1 Canny Move
