Sunday Racing Tips - 1st September
Our best of the day has shown a liking for wet tracks which should hold him in good stead for this.
The rains have arrived in Sydney and the surrounding areas so those looking to have a crack at the Wyong card need to do their wet track form. Our expert has identified a few that could relish the conditions including our top pick today which is screaming out to break his maiden.
Wyong is racing on a Heavy 10 with the rail +3m the entire circuit.
Devonport is racing on the Synthetic with the rail in the true.
Wyong Race 2 - 1:25PM Tuggerah Demolition & Excavation 4YO&UP Maiden Handicap (1100 Metres)
Like the chances of HIEMAL (BEST BET) in this. Is a maiden after 14 starts but his past two efforts have indicated that a win isn’t far off. Sat outside the fav Antonio at Kembla on a Heavy 10 and got the better of that horse, only to be grabbed on the line over 1000m. Backed that up with a strong third to Dunbrody Power at Kembla in mid-July. Can handle the wet and do a bit of work in the run. Barrier three suits.
1st: No9 HIEMAL 2nd: No2 Sethlans; 3rd: No5 Dansk Havn; 4th: No8 Nature
Devonport Race 3 - 1:30PM Flesh Therapy Class 3 Handicap (1350 Metres)
Handy mare FIGHTING PHOENIX shapes as the one to beat. Won narrowly first-up here on August 3 before being backed last start and finishing second to Dothraki Princess a fortnight ago. Drops a bit of weight from that outing and will be peaking third-up. Can win.
1st: No3 FIGHTING PHOENIX 2nd: No1 Harriman; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No4 The Sword; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No2 Benny Goes Berzerk
Wyong Race 4 - 2:35PM Star 104.5 La Gioconda – F&M Class 4 Handicap (1600 Metres)
The highly talented TRICKY GAL (NEXT BEST BET) is staring down the barrel of three straight wins to start her career. Out of the stables of Matt Smith, Tricky Gal came from last to win her debut at Newcastle before doing something similar in Class 1 grade her next start. Hasn’t raced for over six weeks but did have a tick over trial when second to Doncaster runner-up Dreamforce last week. Has won on Soft but Heavy is the only concern.
1st: No3 TRICKY GAL 2nd: No1 Judge Judi; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No4 Genoveffa; 4th: No2 Zourhea
Wyong Race 6 - 3:48PM Carlton Draught Wyong Cup Prelude – Class 4 Handicap (2100 Metres)
The Kris Lees-trained MILSEAIN looks a handy proposition the Heavy track today. Has won at her only start on a bog rack and should be nearing peak fitness after three runs back from a spell. Led for most of the trip in the Taree Cup before being grabbed late to finish fourth behind Hogmanay and that is pretty good form at the moment. Hard to beat especially with Louise Day’s 2kg claim.
1st: No2 MILSEAIN 2nd: No5 He’s Imposing; 3rd: No4 Equipped; 4th: No9 Everly Girl
Wyong Race 7 - 4:23PM Happy 60th Steve Reece Benchmark 64 Handicap (1000 Metres)
Godolphin rep ARIEGE could be on the path to bigger and better things and as such should be winning this. The James Cummings rep is a noted on-speed runner so Brenton Avdulla could press ahead from 12 to find a spot close to the action. She is first-up since May but did win a trial at Randwick over 740m to get ready for this. Logical on top selection.
1st: No2 ARIEGE 2nd: No1 Designer Maid; 3rd: No9 Martinique; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No11 Estrado
