Saturday Racing Tips: Doomben Best Bets - 14th September
An exciting galloper headlines our tips for Doomben this weekend.
We are pretty keen on three from the Doomben card including one out of the Kelly Schweida yard which could be set for bigger and better things.
Doomben is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail out 0.5m the entire course.
Doomben Race 1 - 11:47PM Gadens Benchmark 85 Handicap (2000 Metres)
CLEVANICC is worth an investment in this. The Kris Lees runner has been going around in harder company in Sydney and will find this easier than recent outings. Facing just six rivals, Clevanicc will also benefit from dropping 6kg on his last outing at Canterbury on Aug 21 when third to Ulusaba. Drawn three and gets Jim Byrne.
1st: No6 CLEVANICC 2nd: No5 Galtero; 3rd: No1 Ruling Dynasty; 4th: No4 Cormac
Doomben Race 5 - 2:08PM Vae Group Open Handicap (1400 Metres)
MEET MR TAYLOR is a horse on the way up and could be in for a big preparation. Has won seven of nine career outings and comes into this fresh. Trialled nicely when third at Doomben over 840m recently and has won all three starts first-up. Barrier one will mean he either leads or takes a sit just off the frontrunners. Love the Mark Du Plessis / Kelly Schweida combo.
1st: No3 MEET MR TAYLOR 2nd: No1 Single Bullet; 3rd: No5 Brook Magic; 4th: No6 Capital Connection
Doomben Race 6 - 2:43PM Rostron Carlyle Rojas Fillies And Mares Class 3 Plate (1200 Metres)
Interesting runner here is SHALWA for Tony Gollan. Hasn’t been seen since starting an odds-on fav at Eagle Farm back in March and lost the rider in the race won by Manaya which is pretty hot form. Has won both trials in the lead-up to this and has a great record when fresh (3s 2w 1p). Barrier seven means she will likely go forward.
1st: No13 SHALWA 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No11 Hollaback Girl; 3rd: No9 Frangipani Moon; 4th: No15 Veranes
