Monday Racing Tips: Muswellbrook & Bairnsdale Best Bets - 16th September
We look to begin the week on a high with a few ‘good things’ going around at Muswellbrook and Bairnsdale.
Our expert has done the form for Muswellbrook and Bairnsdale and has come up with crackers for you to follow. The best of those will go around in the opening event down in Victoria. A member of the high-flying Hayes stable, this filly had no luck on debut but from a far better draw this time around is set to be prominent from the outset.
Muswellbrook is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail +6m from the 1280m-300m where cutaway applies
Bairnsdale is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail in the true position.
Bairnsdale Race 1 - 1:00PM bet365 Protest Promise 3YO SV Maiden Plate (1200 Metres)
The Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig-trained filly SACRED GODDESS (BEST BET) is set to be figuring prominently in the finish of this race after drawing ideally in gate one. The daughter of Redoute’s Choice was planted three-wide the trip on debut at Moe but still battled all the way to the line in Heavy conditions to go down narrowly to Don’ttelltheboss. Ben Allen sticks and so do we!
1st: No12 SACRED GODDESS 2nd: No17 Manhattan Sting; 3rd: No2 Departing Bullet; 4th: No1 Audacious Beau
Muswellbrook Race 1 - 1:35PM Bengalla Mining Country Only Maiden Plate (1500 Metres)
Today is surely the day for I’M FLUENT who has more placings (3) than most of the field combined. This Jenny Graham-trained runner has finished second in three consecutive races and the extra rise in distance here probably won’t worry her. From barrier 11 she probably goes back but that probably won’t be enough to stop her as this field is pretty weak.
1st: No11 I’M FLUENT 2nd: No7 Voyages; 3rd: No1 Applied; 4th: No2 Arraign
Muswellbrook Race 2 - 2:10PM Horsepower Class 3 Handicap (1450 Metres)
Not much went right for WEATHER CHANNEL (NEXT BEST BET) last time out after he was planted three-deep the trip in a much harder race than this. Still managed to finish seventh to Handfast which is no slouch. Prior to that was seen doing his best work late in a Highway at Rosehill on July 13 when second to My Blue Jeans after coming from near last. Drawn three and is handy over the distance (4p from 6s). Will be there at the finish.
1st: No3 WEATHER CHANNEL 2nd: No2 Nothing Too Hard; 3rd: No1 Achi Baba; 4th: No5 Two Ducks Artie
Bairnsdale Race 6 - 3:30PM bet365 Odds Drift Protector BM58 Handicap (2000 Metres
It is hard not to tip anything out of the Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig barn at the moment and we have found another one to follow here in the shape of FRIDAY FUNDAY. This gelding came with a big run after sitting near last on resuming and finished second to Hadeer three weeks ago over the mile. He comes into this second-up and the extra rise in distance won’t be a concern considering he won over 2030m last prep. From barrier one should be prominent from the outset and looks too good and too strong for this lot.
1st: No1 FRIDAY FUNDAY 2nd: No3 Ayers Rock; 3rd: No8 Testa Life; 4th: No2 Kothu Rotti
Muswellbrook Race 7 - 5:15PM TAB.com.au Class 2 Handicap (1000 Metres)
Taking a punt on CASSY’S SISTER in this. Was scratched from a recent assignment so chances are she’s had a bit more work put into her for her return to racing. Hasn’t been seen since finishing second in the Wellington Boot back in April behind Superium and that guy is a quality animal, pushing True Detective all the way in Group Three company a few weeks ago. Cassy’s Sister has won a trial in preparation for this. Drawn six with Grant Buckley aboard. Chance in an open affair.
1st: No10 CASSY’S SISTER 2nd: No9 Star Raider; 3rd: No1 Hildago; 4th: No12 Wild Fortune
