Tuesday Racing Tips: Moruya and Wangaratta

Mon, 16 Sep, 4:28 PM

We have done the form across Moruya and Wangaratta and we think there is a bit of value on offer this afternoon. The pick of the bunch comes out of the Joe Pride stable and this horse did a power of work last time out but didn’t throw in the towel meekly. This looks a suitable assignment.

Moruya is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 3m from 1000m-350m

Wangaratta is racing on a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.

Moruya Race 1 - 1:00PM Bay Post Benchmark 58 Handicap (1660 Metres)

Terry Robinson’s FORTUNE’S PATH can go close here after some luckless runs of late. Was planted three-wide the trip in the Highway at Rosehill on Aug 31 but he still managed to finish sixth behind Assault’n’bathory. Isadora Twinkle, who he meets here, ran past him at the finish and meets her worse at the weights but from gate five and Jeff Penza on board, we expect the five-year-old to be much closer in the run. Has won with a big weight in this grade before.

1st: No2 FORTUNE’S PATH 2nd:  No7 Isadora Twinkle; 3rd No1 Blevio; 4th: No3 Mohican

Wangaratta Race 2 - 2:00PM Winsec Savings & Loans SV 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate (1100 Metres)

Godolphin runner FLIRTING could return to racing on a high. The Anthony Freedman-trained runner has finished in the placings at all three starts and all were against pretty handy opposition. She can put herself into the race so expect her to be on the speed for most of this. Has trialled nicely in preparation for her return.

1st: No5 FLIRTING 2nd:  No6 Judgement; 3rd No7 Knowles; 4th: No12 Rockness Angel

Moruya Race 3 - 2:10PM AMH Auto Group Benchmark 66 Handicap (1020 Metres)

IL BANDITO (BEST BET) should be on the speed throughout and looks hard to beat in this. The Joe Pride runner was never on the track last start in the race won by Oakfield Captain at Wyong on Sep 6. Despite the tough trip, he continued to loop the field and found the line nicely in finishing sixth. This race is easier but he jumps 5.5kgs but we aren’t too concerned about that. Having his fourth run in now and should be rock hard fit. Will be thereabouts.

1st: No3 IL BANDITO 2nd:  No2 Twirling Moss; 3rd: No6 Oxford Angel; 4th: No7 Rapid Lover

Wangaratta Race 3 - 2:30PM Probus Club Of Bright Maiden Plate (1000 Metres)

Like the chances of RAPID EAGLE (NEXT BEST BET) as it drops back to a 1000m. Heavily backed last time out at Benalla when leading over 1300m and dropping out of it. Trainer Mike Moroney has chosen to go back in distance for this and it looks more his style. Should find the top from barrier 10 and will be difficult to get past. Speedy type.

1st: No4 RAPID EAGLE 2nd:  No12 Bless Her; 3rd No11 The Egyptian; 4th: No7 Lady

Moruya Race 7 - 4:35PM Club Tuross And Oceanview Brassiere Maiden Plate (1210 Metres)

Now in the hands of Natalie Jarvis, BOOM AND ZOOM can finally break through for a win at start number six. The former Team Snowden runner had her first start for Jarvis at this track a fortnight back and finished a narrow second. Has placed in three of five career starts including her debut when third to the very smart Sizzlefly. Goes forward from barrier two and will be extremely hard to hold out.

1st: No14 BOOM AND ZOOM 2nd:  No2 One More Tipple; 3rd: No3 Blitzenrush; 4th: No10 Capri Lane
