Golden Rose Preview & Betting Tips
Brilliant youngster the one to follow in Golden Rose
Yao Dash (4) goes forward as he did last time out when leading all-the-way. That could work out again with Yes Yes Yes (2) capable of coming out and finding a spot with Nash on board. Expect Exceedance, Castelvecchio and Dawn Passage to be in the second half of the field while Bivouac (6) will be just off the leaders.
The Key Runners:
5. Exceedance – T. Berry: $5*:
Was a brilliant winner of the San Domenico on Heavy before finding it a bridge too far in the Run To The Rose when there wasn’t a great deal of pressure on up front. Will get back to near last but has a tremendous finish. Will need some speed on to be a factor but at the price, we’ll take it!
THE EACH-WAY TIP
1. Castelvecchio – J.Parr: $10*:
Has the best finishing burst of any galloper in the race! Only got warm late first-up in the Dulcify and drops back 100m for this. Needs to be a lot closer to them and not a few lengths off and looking uninterested, which he can do, to be a factor but if he is switched on then watch for his booming finish late.
7. Dawn Passage – T. Clark: $31*:
May pay to forgive his last start failure behind Bivouac in the Run To The Rose where he was found to have pulled up lame. From eight he will drop back which suits him far better than being close to them, which he was last time out. We’ve backed worse $31 chances in the past.
Outside the favourite, you are getting some very good value for some pretty good horses. Exceedance at the $5* is too good to refuse considering he was $2.40 last time out. He’ll carry a big portion of the bank while some each-way money can ride on either Castelvecchio or Dawn Passage.
- • 50% of the bank on Exceedance to Win ($5*)
- • 35% of the bank on Castelvecchio each way ($10*)
- • 15% of the bank on Dawn Passage each way ($31*)
