Monday Racing Tips: Tamworth & Geelong Best Bets - 30th September
Premier trainer Kris Lees is our man today to get the week off to a flying start!
Kris Lees is set to have a fat day out at Tamworth with the premier trainer taking several leading hopes to the track. The best of the bunch is also our pick of the day and is set to break his maiden status. An eye-catcher first-up, he will be far better for the experience.
Tamworth is racing on a Good 4 with the rail in the true position
Geelong is racing on a Good 4 with the rail out 8m the entire circuit
Tamworth Race 2 - 2:10PM Rapid Clean – Maiden Handicap (1200 Metres)
The form around this guy is pretty strong and we expect him to break his maiden today. GREENSKEEPER was first-up for a few months when second to Deepwood Vale at Scone last start, with the form franked as that horse won again last Friday. Has placed in five of 12 career runs. Yes, the barrier (15) is tricky but most of these have struggled for ages. Gets his chance and gets an experienced jock (Aaron Bullock) on board.
1st: No1 GREENSKEEPER 2nd: No16 Fonce; 3rd: No4 Absolute Control; 4th: No2 I’m ON Break
Tamworth Race 3 - 2:50PM Thread Effects – Maiden Plate (1400 Metres)
We are tipping it won’t take long for this Kris Lees galloper in MISTERZEE (BEST BET) to break its maiden status. The colt rocketed home from last at Muswellbrook on debut to finish an unlucky fourth to Bombasay on September 16. What was most impressive was the fact they ran a race record that day and the son of Zoffany was flying late. Gets an extra 100m to work with here. Give another go.
1st: No10 MISTERZEE 2nd: No12 Divine Dream; 3rd: No1 Bandjin Rain; 4th: No4 Hardyo
Tamworth Race 5 - 4:05PM Easters Landscape Supplies – Class 2 Handicap (1200 Metres)
STAR RAIDER is worth another chance in this despite his racing pattern. Gets back in his races but possesses a huge finishing sprint. Won well on debut at Moree before rattling home behind Hildalgo when second last start at Muswellbrook. Drawn one so he may be a touch closer this time around. Another one for Kris Lees.
1st: No4 STAR RAIDER 2nd: No1 Cozhecancan; 3rd: No3 Philadora; 4th: No7 Onemorechoice
Geelong Race 4 - 2:00PM Newcomb Sand And Soil Maiden Plate (1435 Metres)
Chris Waller gelding OLYMPIC shapes as a good bet. The former Sydneysider now finds himself down in Melbourne and is first-up since finishing fourth at Warwick Farm on May 15. Has shown ability throughout his career and finished third to Pin Sec, the Black Opal winner, on debut in December last year. Given a quiet trial leading up to this. Definite contender.
1st: No8 OLYMPIC 2nd: No7 Lord Markel; 3rd: No10 Brooklet; 4th: No1 Aussie Nugget
Geelong Race 9 - 4:30PM All Time Plumbing & Gas BM70 Handicap (1335 Metres)
The exciting *SCRATCHED* HARBOUR VIEWS (NEXT BEST BET) resumes from a spell and is capable of maintaining his unbeaten run. Trained by Matthew Williams, Harbour Views has won all three career runs and won a trial in preparation for his return to racing. Is first-up since June but is drawn well in three and gets regular jockey John Allen aboard. Likely to lead and if fit enough, wins again.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No2 HARBOUR VIEWS 2nd: No7 Nordic Symphony; 3rd: No3 Honorable Mention; 4th: No12 Queen La Diva
