Friday Racing Tips: Ballarat Best Bets - 11th October
Ballarat is our sole focus today and a very talented filly headlines our selections.
We have identified three serious hopes at Ballarat with the best of them a lightly raced filly from the in-form Maher & Eustace stable. This lightly raced filly looks poised to strike in today’s event and could go onto bigger things down the track in her career. Rates well.
Ballarat is racing on a Soft 5 with the rail out 7m 600m – WP, out 5m WP-1600m, True remainder.
Ballarat Race 5 - 3:30PM Porter Plant BM58 Handicap (2000 Metres)
CRYSTAL BILLY (EACH WAY) didn’t have much luck when finishing 1.3 lengths behind Rocky Raccoon at Echuca three weeks back and on the back of that run, we think this gelding gets his chance at a handy price. Hasn’t tasted victory for over a year but this is just his second run back from a long spell. Fitter, drawn well in 3 and gets the in-form Luke Nolen aboard.
No.8 CRYSTAL BILLY
Ballarat Race 6 - 4:00PM Hygain Winners Choice BM58 Handicap (1400 Metres)
STARDEN LASS (BEST BET) is a lightly raced Denman filly that’s had a month freshen up for her return over the 1400m at Ballarat today. This Maher and Eustace-trained galloper looks to have a bright future winning two from her three starts to date. Finished third last time out behind Raktoff at Mornington in BM64 company so this is easier. The stable is firing so it will pay to follow this filly.
No.8 STARDEN LASS
Ballarat Race 9 - 5:35PM Hygain Winners Choice BM58 Handicap (1200 Metres)
ONCE UPON A DREAM (ROUGHIE) has only tasted victory once from 15 starts to date but with a further seven placings don’t be surprised to see this M Cumani-trained mare run a huge race. Put a cross through her last start effort and go on her placing two starts back at Warracknabeal when her run peaked late when beaten less than a length. Worth a throw at the stumps going off that.
