SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS vs WESTS TIGERS (Thursday 28th April 7.50pm)

This is the battle of the desperate here. I thought the Bunnies showed a bit more last week against the Broncos, in fact they showed a lot more and I reckon they will be desperate to beat the Tigers whose season looks in tatters. Reynolds is down to play although there still might be a query with him but the Tigers are on a 6 match losing streak and in a rut they only sunk deeper into, with the thrashing at the hands of the Raiders last weekend.

I don’t know when the Tigers will break their losing streak and it doesn’t look like it will be here. I am confident in the Bunnies leading at half-time and full-time ($1.87 UNIBET) with Chris Grevsmuhl to take advantage of an early Tigers defensive lapse and cross for the first meat pie at $26 (Ladbrokes) just after I finish my own steak and mushroom version. I like the way this guy hits the line and is excellent value.

These two have squared off already this season with the Eels running out easy winners on the back of a Radradra masterclass. I would expect him to be fired up for this game as he has been picked in the Australian side and as such , I am going to stick with the talented winger to cross first at $8.10 (LuxBet). He will be on such a high after being picked for the Kangaroos.

After the shock announcement of Kieran Foran's indefinite leave, the Eels have blown right out in the betting ($2.50 Ladbrokes). However, I think they may grow an extra leg to make up for their halfback's absence. They have been consistent this season whereas the same can’t be said for the Dogs, whom turn up one week, stay at home the next. Eels to win.

ENHANCED ODDS: Ladbrokes have boosted the odds of an Eels win to $2.75 (Was $2.40). See here for details. T&Cs Apply.

Penrith are certainties. Did I mention I am a former Panther legend? Get on whatever you can. Panthers Win ($1.61 UNIBET), Half-Time / Full-Time ($2.23 UNIBET), First Team To Score a Try ($1.80 WIlliam Hill), - 3.5 start ($1.74 LuxBet): the whole kit and caboodle. Penrith will win the game. Canberra were good last week against a woeful Tigers, but Penrith were excellent against a major premiership contender and their form this season is impeccable considering they have lost a few tight affairs.

With Segeyaro, Whare and McKendry back they appear formidable, joining the likes Fisher-Harris who is a weapon off the bench, they look impossible to go past. I believe the Panthers are real smokeys for this competition ($19 Sportsbet) and are currently good odds to make the Top 8 ($1.95 LuxBet). They are certainly semi-final material and should account for the Raiders here.

First Try Scorer – will have to be a Panther: Dallin Watene-Zelezniak to cross the stripe first ($10 UNIBET) and plant the ball down for the first 4 pointer. Will be a good game but Penrith to head back from Bathurst with the 2 points in the kit bag.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS vs NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS (Saturday 30th April 5.30pm)

The Roosters didn’t play great footy last week but in the end they were a bit unlucky to be beaten by the Dragons. Mitchell Pearce back at half-back will give them better direction, Warea-Hargraves is back, Cordner fitter for a run, they are big additions against the poor old Knights who can’t buy a win. I saw enough last week to convince me that the Roosters can overcome the Knights. I hate the straight our price – it’s shocking and don’t deserve to be that short, but if I go Roosters 1-12 they will win 13+ and vice versa. Am going to plump all eggs into First Try Scorer baskets – Latrell Mitchell ($10 Bet365). He is an impressive young bloke who will benefit from Pearce being back, chiming into the backline early on to score first. Looks value.

ENHANCED ODDS: Think Blake Ferguson can score and the Roosters can win? Get a boosted $2.60 about this happenning. See here. T&Cs Apply.

The Cowboys are short but there is a fair bit of doubt over quite a few Sea Eagles including Tom Trbojevic and Brett Stewart as well Apisai Koroisau. On form you have to tip the Cowboys, they are playing too well to oppose here. The Sea Eagles have an imposing record but Brookvale doesn’t appear the fortress it once was.

Lyon announcing he will retire at the end of the season will have the Eagles come out firing so I am tipping them to lead early before the Cowboys start to dominate as they so often do at the back end of matches. I am siding with the Sea Eagles / Nth QLD half-full double ($7.75 LuxBet) and let’s go a bit of a smoky for First Try Scorer: Brayden Williame at $17 (Bet365). This ex Eel has been scoring tries for fun in NSW Cup so he knows his way across the try line. Manly score plenty of tries out wide and Williame could be the beneficiary of a fired up Eagles outfit early doors. Also have something on Manly to be First Team To Score A Try ($2.36 Sportsbet).

ENHANCED ODDS: Antonio Winterstein to score a try & Cowboys to win is paying $2.75 with one bookie. Offer here. T&Cs Apply.

We say it every week – the Warriors are just a nightmare. They sooled me in last week and fancy turning on that performance on Anzac Day? No wonder their coach Andrew McFadden gave them a most deserved spray at half-time. They did not show up. The spray didn’t help. Usually such a potent scoring outfit, they failed to score a solitary point, against a team who scraped home by a point against the Tigers the week before….whom were thumped 60-6 by the Raiders! The form guide. Lob it in the bin sometimes.

The Dragons have a very good record against the Warriors but have a little headache of their own with ‘Mary’ MacGregor in some strife off the field, I still expect the Big Red V ($2.43 UNIBET) to extend their incredible record against the Warriors. Aitken is back in and brings some strength to the midfield and at decent odds against, I have to be on the Dragons. There is juicy value to be had in the Dragons / Dragons Half-time / Full-Time double ($3.55 UNIBET) as well. Looks like some decent betting opportunities here.

First Try Scorer: Kalifa Faifai Loa. Been scoring a few and represents some decent value ($13 Bet365) to get the Dragons off to a flyer in Auckland.

INSURANCE: Get your cash back in bonus points if your 1st try scorer bet scores in the first half! See here! T&Cs Apply.

I have been critical of the Storm in the last month or so but they looked fantastic the other night against the Warriors putting them to the sword. They looked fresh, they looked sharp and maybe Cronk’s field-goal winner vs the Tigers has got the Storm back on song. The Titans have been solid but they too have struggled to get over the line in the last few weeks losing to Cronulla, St George and Canterbury but close enough margins.

The value hides in the Storm/Storm Half-Time/Full-Time double ($2.23 UNIBET) and Cameron Munster to dive over for the first Eddie ($11.50 LuxBet) of the game. Melbourne Storm too strong for a determined and gritty Gold Coast outfit.

ENHANCED ODDS: Think the 3rd placed Storm can win and Suliasi Vunivalu can score a try? Get a boosted $3 if this scenario eventuates! Offer here! T&Cs Apply.

Undoubtedly match of the round. What a clash looming at Shark Park. The Cronulla faithful have been lapping up their teams efforts this season. Given the recent history that gave the Sharks a big, black eye, it is great to see them put all the dramas behind them and play footy. This is a litmus test for the Sharks who have won 5 in a row and have been good without being brilliant. This is the game they have been waiting for to show they are in the upper echelon of the competition. They have the capacity to improve and at home in front of an adoring packed house it is going to be a special game.

The Broncos will miss McCullough but you know the Broncos are going to show up every week and this one will be close, but I am going to tip the Sharks here and am tipping them 1-12 ($3.60 Palmerbet). I can’t see the Sharks beating Brisbane by more than 2 converted tries so the 1-12 boosts the odds nicely in our favour.

First Try Scorer is a ripper market this week, call me blind in my loyalty to James Maloney ($26 William Hill) – he has been scoring tries regularly but just not first. Time to change that James, in front of your passionate home fans against the competition big guns, find your way over the line first son!

Great game to top off a good round of footy.

ENHANCED ODDS: If in-form Ben Barba scores a try & the Sharks win, collect $4.50 per dollar staked!See here! T&Cs Apply.
