CANBERRA RAIDERS vs MANLY SEA EAGLES (Friday 3rd June, 7.50pm)

I cannot wait for another round of magnificent Rugby League to get underway. This is a 50/50 game to start proceedings. The betting suggests the Raiders and whilst I think they might sneak home, it is potentially a dangerous affair for them as Manly head down the freeway with a very strong side. Lyon at 5/8th is working a treat and they have enough firepower to rattle the Raiders.

I believe Manly will score first ($2.20 Bet365) and this first try will go to Dylan Walker ($15 Ladbrokes) whom rather ingloriously tried to milk a penalty in State Of Origin in the dying stages, only for the refs to wave him away and shout ‘knock on’. He needs some redemption and first try might help with that. I also believe that the Raiders might sneak this one, so there is some value in the Manly – Raiders Half-Time/Full-Time Double ($7.90 LuxBet). You might also want to have a look at the Raiders 1-12 ($3.10 William Hill) as the $1.50 (Palmerbet) straight out is too short about Ricky Stuart’s men, who should prevail in a tight one.

Best Odds: $110.53 (UNIBET)

NZ WARRIORS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS (Saturday 4th June 3.05pm)

The odds straight off the bat the Broncos here ($1.60 UNIBET) looks a reasonable price against the Warriors. I just cannot see the Warriors winning. They were pumped in NZ by the Raiders a few weeks ago and Brisbane will be raring to bounce back after 2 losses on the trot. Sure the Broncos have a few lads backing up from the bruising State Of Origin but there is no better coach in the game than Wayne Bennett in dealing with those issues. Boyd, Parker, Thaiday and McGuire will all be back from Origin duty, they will have a good rest prior to the game and expect them to unleash their backline to good effect on Saturday.

I want to be on the Broncos in all betting facets here. Broncos to score first try ($1.75 William Hill) , let’s go James Roberts ($11 William Hill) as First Try Scorer, I believe the Broncos will lead from go to whoa so take the Broncos/Broncos Half-Full Double ($2.08 UNIBET) as well. If the Warriors capitulate into the rabble that they can find themselves in, then Broncos 13+ ($3.30 UNIBET) isn’t out of the question. Neither will the exit door for the coach which might find itself ajar with an inept performance from the home side.

NQ COWBOYS vs NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS (Saturday 4th June 5.35pm)

Bank interest is only about 1% per annum and if you are game, you could load up on the Cowboys at $1.06 for a 6% return in 80 minutes. Pension Fund Managers dream of that kind of return in a year, let alone a day. But in reality, this is a no bet game. The Cowboys have an army returning from Origin and you could pray and go for a Newcastle miracle at around $9, but it is the Cowboys and it is the Knights. Sense should prevail. If the Cowboys are on song, they will flog them.

The only bet though I am willing to take is backing the Cowboys version of Mr Perpetual Motion: Ethan Lowe ($23 Bet365) to be First Tryscorer. There isn’t a lot of meat on this bloke, especially when he stands next to Tamou and Scott, but he has a motor and goes all day. His flowing locks and mo remind me of a legend of yesteryear – Trevor Cogger.

One thing I do know: I am going to have to crow about Ethan Lowe, as he won’t be running slow in the games early flow, he will cross the line first to bag us some dough. I am a poet.

MELBOURNE STORM vs PENRITH PANTHERS (Saturday 4th June 7.35pm)

I love the Panthers here. They were $2.40 earlier in the week. Please. The Storm haven’t finalised their team but there is a chance that Cronk and Smith might be out, especially Cronk, whom hurt his ankle in the run up to Origin 1. I have been talking the Panthers up all year, but they have struggled to get on a roll – they win one, they lose one but always in tight games. It is a game Penrith simply have got to win to get up there on the ladder.

I would like to be on the Panthers straight out ($2.40 UNIBET) and am going to take them in the Half-Full double as well ($3.45 UNIBET), taking the lead early and maintain it. It is amazing how often the Storm are behind at home only to snatch victory late. Not here though. The Panthers won’t flog the Storm either so there is value in 1-12 ($3.50 LuxBet) and finally, First Tryscorer: Got to be a Panther with legs, I am plumping for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak ($11.50 LuxBet). Panthers all round!

SYDNEY ROOSTERS vs WESTS TIGERS (Sunday 5th June 4.05pm)

Roosters are way under the odds in the straight out market, considering Tedesco is back. The Tigers did the job for us last week as high as $4.50 (who liked that tip loyal followers??) against the Broncos, Woods will be fresh as he played limited minutes in Origin, and the Roosters just aren’t the Roosters at the moment. This is an absolute must win for the Chooks though, and it has swayed me like a palm in the breeze to suggest the Roosters 1-12 ($3.10 Centrebet) as the best bet.

First Tryscorer could go to any number of players but there is one bloke whom will be hell-bent to bounce back from a fairly ordinary Origin game, that is Blake Ferguson ($9 Bet365). He is on the flank for the Roosters with Copley in the centres, expect the ball to be flung wide and Ferguson to make the most of it early doors.

Tricky game this, Roosters just have to win it.

The Titans have been playing good footy in the last few rounds. You’d expect them to be dropping off but they have bounced in the last few games after a run of losses. This game is over in the wild west at Nib Stadium on what should be a fast, dry track. I expect the Bunnies strong backline to swing into action and rattle up some points. I really like the Rabbits to be leading at both Half-time and Full-time so take the double ($2.20 UNIBET). I also reckon the Bunnies will fire right up and take this game out with something to spare, so hop onto the 13+ ($3.30 UNIBET) on offer. Nice price.

There is a man who absolutely stands out for the Bunnies every single week. He is as hard as nails and always gives every drop of effort he can muster. I expect him to be close to the action early on, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see big Sammy Burgess ($23 LuxBet) be the first tryscorer on the night. Bunnies too good.

Everything is pointing to the Sharks ($1.90 UNIBET) victory in Monday Night Football. They look good on paper, they are healthy with very few injuries, they have won 8 in a row, they go good under lights, there is just so much going for them and the odds are beefy. The Bulldogs will have some potency with Hopoate returning as well as their Origin boys. Josh Jackson was huge for NSW and he will appreciate the rest prior to the Monday night game but will it be enough to overcome the competitions form team? I don’t think so.

The Bulldogs will stick with the Sharks for most of the game so the value in Cronulla 1-12 (($3.25 William Hill) spices things up, and there will be one former Bulldog now in the Shire so keen to fire against his old club, Benny Barba. Ben has been on fire this season with those dancing feet and exceptional pace off the mark, take him to score First Try ($12 LuxBet) on the night in what should be an entertaining affair.
