EELS 1-12

Best Odds: $128.85 (William Hill)

I have to tip Parramatta ($1.80 Palmerbet) here against the Bunnies. I think the Bunnies might be gone this season. Injuries, form, discontent. Not great for the 2014 Premiers. Parramatta went to the Top End with some heavy baggage that has been stifling the team for many weeks now but managed to stand up against a Gold Coast team whom have been in good form.

Souths lose Reynolds, Inglis and Goodwin and have a real problem with depth. Paramatta won’t walk away with this easily, so it is worth taking them 1-12 ($3.20 Palmerbet) as well as straight out, but I am going to vouch for the Rabbitohs to get on the board first: Alex Johnston ($12 Sportsbet) First Try Scorer. It should be an entertaining game and Souths upset Parra a few weeks back, but the Eels are rightful favourites here and will get the biscuits.

Melbourne Storm north of $2.50 in betting? It just goes to show the impact that Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk have on the team and betting. They have been backed into around the $2.30 mark from as high as $2.62, but they struggle to win without their two key players. Even though on paper the Storm have a strong side with that Cameron Munster the next superstar of the game, I can’t back them.

Saints have drifted from $1.50 to around $1.70 but I have to be on them – not straight out though. The Storm never get smacked so the only way to go here is to back the Dragons 1-12 ($3.05 Palmerbet). They weren’t that bad against Canterbury and this could be the play in an intriguing game.

First Try scorer I am looking to a Dragon – let’s roll with Kurt Mann ($13 Bet365). Not a bad roll of the dice at double-figure odds. Dragons just, on Saturday.

When you hold up the form guide and see 0-46 last start about the Roosters and the opposition having a 50-14 romp, it is hard to do anything but back the Warriors. I can’t do that. I just can’t. Have a look at the team sheet! The Roosters will be boasting one of the best packs in the premiership, welcome back Shaun Kenny-Dowall and they just look amazing overs for mine around the $3 (Bet365) level. Get on.

To be fair to the Warriors they blitzed Brisbane and when many people – my good self included – tipped Newcastle to turn them, they went to the Hunter and belted the hapless Knights. However the Roosters are just too big odds for the team they will run through the tunnel with. Upset of the round coming up!

To even add some more cream to the betting, let’s invest some hard earned on the Roosters 1-12 ($4.55 William Hill). They won’t smash the Warriors if they win, and whilst on the theme of value, I am going to roll with Mitch Aubusson ($26 Sportsbet) as First Try Scorer.

GOLD COAST TITANS vs MANLY EAGLES (Monday 20th June 7pm)

Oh dear. What about those poor Eagles. No Coco Joy down Brookvale way. Things just go from bad to worse for the team everyone loves to hate. Maybe even their own supporters will hate them after their incredible capitulation on the weekend, giving up a 24-4 lead to get rolled 31-24 by the Panthers. Manly had played wonderful football up until Half-Time, with Tom Trbojevic and Dylan Walker running rampant, then it was all Penrith. Trent Barrett nearly took old Hoss’s head off in one tirade in the box. Manly do welcome back Tapau and Lyon – Lyon is inspirational as a player and leader, but the loss of Walker to State Of Origin will hurt.

Gold Coast weren’t bad Against Parramatta but gave up an opportunity to show the comp they mean business. They didn’t come up with the goods but have been playing good footy, they have a strong team and are playing at home. I think Manly will be very competitive but I am going to tip the glitter strip boys to get the prize but only just – take the Gold Coast 1-12 ($3.10 William Hill).

My First Try Scorer I am going for a bloke whom I have a good rap on, he is a big strong lad and has had a great season: Agnatius Paasi ($26 LuxBet). He is fat odds and is well worth a dollar to plant the ball down for the first try.
