RABBITOHS + 6.5

TITANS + 3.5

WESTS TIGERS +6.5

NZ WARRIORS straight out

BEST ODDS:

SOUTH SYDNEY vs SYDNEY ROOSTERS - Thursday night 8.05pm, ANZ

Nothing like some red hot rivalry to kick-start the week in this wonderful local derby between two teams with deep history. No doubt the rich tradition of tough and often fiery contests will be on show, although George Burgess will be sitting in the stand with his handbag cooling his heels. His brother fills the void and by all reports, was outstanding for feeder club North Sydney on the weekend.

The bunnies have made some significant positional changes with Sutton to 5/8th, Walker to fullback, Johnston to wing so Madge is keeping the Roosters guessing. It is hard to fault the early season form of the Chooks, they rolled the Panthers away in somewhat controversial circumstances but all you can do is win, and win they have been.

Looking at the betting, the RABBITOHS look outstanding value at the price (around $3.0) and look even better value on the 1-12 above $4.20. Gee that looks a good bet. The line at around 6.5 start to Souths is too big, so will want a piece of that, and to extend that value, lets roll with TALAKAI ($21) as First Try Scorer. I think the bunnies faithful just might have plenty to cheer about tonight.

Outright Match Winner:

RABBITOHS

Margin Betting:

RABBITOHS 1-12

Line Betting:

RABBITOHS + 6.5

First Try Scorer:

SIOSIFA TALAKAI

PENRITH PANTHERS vs NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS - Friday night 6.00pm, Pepper Stadium

No point beating around the bush – all in PENRITH here. They will cover the 14.5 line, there will be plenty of points so go Total Points OVER 43.5, and NATHAN CLEARY ($19) to be First Try Scorer at good odds. The Knights were valiant last week whilst Penrith could feel a bit stiff against a strong Roosters outfit. At the foot of the mountains and a need to improve their record, the Panthers will really step up to the plate here.

Outright Match Winner:

PENRITH

Line Betting:

PENRITH – 14.5 start

Total Points Betting:

OVER 43.5

First Try Scorer:

NATHAN CLEARY

BRISBANE BRONCOS vs CANBERRA RAIDERS - Friday night 8.05pm, Suncorp

Broncos have an excellent record against the Raiders in Brisbane so is there any reason for this to change on Friday night? The Broncos have been playing really good footy but ending up on the wrong side of the scoreboard. They were the better team away to the Storm and yes, the Raiders savaged a limp Wests Tigers, but I can’t see Brisbane losing this one.

The Raiders might have posted a decent score against the Tigers but we have all seen what has transpired this week with the other JT being shipped off to Centrelink, where he bumped into Sheens and Potter. Wests were not in the game on the weekend yet the Raiders took an eternity to put them away. No such liberties this week. Expect the Broncos to take on their big men, and BRISBANE look the bet.

This will be no runaway for the Broncs, and 1-12 ($3.10+) is some excellent value. Let’s go with the young winger COREY OATES ($9) for First Try Scorer

Outright Match Winner:

BRISBANE BRONCOS

Margin Betting:

BRONCOS 1-12

First Try Scorer:

COREY OATES

MANLY SEA EAGLES vs CANTERBURY BULLDOGS - Saturday afternoon 4.30pm, La La Land

Manly really stepped up last week and will gain a great deal of confidence from that. DCE and Nate Myles played their best games in a while off the back of a week where their coach was subject to some speculation about his future. They come back home where their record against the Dogs isn’t spectacular. The Dogs seems to be building up to something big and are gaining some significant momentum to drive things forward.

I am going to tip the BULLDOGS, I thought they were pretty good last week and they are starting to spread the pill around. I think taking the BULLDOGS / BULLDOGS HT-FT Double ($2.70) is a good play, and we will go with BRETT MORRIS ($10) to Score the First Try in the game. We went Moses Mbye last week at massive odds, he scored……but he scored 2nd…….close.

Outright Match Winner:

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

HT / FT Double:

BULLDOGS / BULLDOGS

First Try Scorer:

BRETT MORRIS

PARRAMATTA EELS vs CRONULLA SHARKS - Saturday evening 7.00pm, ANZ Stadium

These are two teams that ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard last week. Being a Sharkies man I was really disappointed with them last week, they looked really flat. I’d like to think that they can bounce back and the prospect of Jame Segayaro coming in as the new rake has to be a big plus. Nothing against the kid Brailey, but Segayaro is a class player who will give them plenty of go forward.

The Eels too were disappointing. They led 12-0 and looked like they were going to trounce the Titans but seemed to put the cue in the rack. The Titans in the end out enthused them and wanted it more, winning running away with it. The Parra coach made some interesting decisions benching his forwards and they seemed to lose their way. What happens this week?

With the addition of Segayaro, I am leaning towards the CRONULLA SHARKS to bounce back. It will be tight, so again you can parlay the value by going the SHARKS 1-12 ($3.30) and let’s make it a Sharks trifecta, CHAD TOWNSEND ($46) to be First Try Scorer.  That is a big price!

Outright Match Winner:

CRONULLA SHARKS

Margin Betting:

SHARKS 1-12

First Try Scorer:

CHAD TOWNSEND

GOLD COAST TITANS vs NTH QLD COWBOYS - Saturday night 9.00pm, Cbus Super Stadium

I thought the Cowboys were more than disappointing against the Eagles last week after starting well enough. To think of all the ball they had in the 2nd half and they were unable to translate into points, it is a big concern. Very average. They have lost some serious go forward in Taumalolo and Scott, it showed too. I have deep concerns for them in this game and as such, I am on the GOLD COAST to upset them on Saturday night.

The Titans performance to come back to overrun Parramatta was very good and it will be no surprise to see them take that confidence and really take it to an outfit who would have asked themselves no shortage of questions this week. They have Daniel Vidot back and Dale Copley is a good signing, Tyler Cornish was excellent on debut so I am happy to side with the odds-against side.

Both teams can score points, OVER 40.5 Points looks a great bet. Given what happened last week, let’s have a speculator on the COWBOYS / TITANS HT-FT Double. $9.50 available and this looks too big. Speaking of big – RYAN JAMES - $23 to be First Try Scorer. Thank you, will take that with a side of fries.

Outright Match Winner:

GOLD COAST

Total Match Points Betting:

OVER 40.5

HT / FT Double:

COWBOYS / TITANS

First Try Scorer:

RYAN JAMES

WESTS TIGERS vs MELBOURNE STORM - Sunday afternoon 4.00pm, Leichardt Oval

After 3 rounds the turnstile that sits outside the coaches office at Wests Tigers was turning again, this time Jason Taylor was walking through it. He follows a familiar path of big name coaches to depart the Tiges. Probably no surprise the Chairwoman of the Tigers has a surname – Go.  Apt considering what happened this week.

Putting all that aside, the Tigers return to Leichardt. The Coach is gone, there are no more excuses. This is the game for the faithful and it will be the time for the TIGERS to shine. Get on them!!! I am going quids in on the Tiges – let’s go the full house (which is what Leichardt will be). Sides always seem to perform well when a coach is gone. They will need to be good and need to be good to win. They have a great record against the Storm at their spiritual home.

TIGERS +6.5 start, TIGERS / TIGERS GT-FT Double, The TIGERS to Score First Try, and MOSES SULI ($12) to be First Try Scorer. This is a punting kebab with Tiger sauce and the L.O.T.  Come on Tigers faithful, get your boys home across the board to the cheers of the punting faithful. I can’t wait to call this game. Make sure you tune in to your favourite football pundit.

Outright Match Winner:

WESTS TIGERS

Line Betting:

TIGERS +6.5

HT / FT Double:

TIGERS / TIGERS

First Try Scorer:

MOSES SULI

First Try:

WESTS TIGERS

ST GEORGE-ILLAWARRA DRAGONS vs NZ WARRIORS - Sunday evening 6.30pm, Kogarah

Ok. Here we go. WARRIORS. For no other reason is that I expect St George to be inconsistent, and also playing on the Warriors inconsistency – they are due a decent performance. That might not make sense when it comes to terms with the punting side of the game, but this is just one of those games. Saints would have left every drop on the park against the Sharks last week, this game could be deflating for them, and the Warriors – world beaters one day, chumps the next. They have had their share of being chumps, time for them to be champions.

I think the Kiwi side can come out of the blocks humming, so let’s go with KEN MAMAULO ($12) to be First Try Scorer, which then helps set the platform for the WARRIORS / WARRIORS HT-FT double ($2.75).  Warriors too good.

Good luck and good punting.

Outright Match Winner:

NZ WARRIORS

HT / FT Double:

WARRIORS / WARRIORS

First Try Scorer:

KEN MAMAULO
